ya i remember that guy, there was also bryant reeves, they called him big country, he was a big hype but i think his career went down due to injury

this year, so he can move to another team as free agent, if no one picks him, im sure he can go to europe

reallistically i think some crap nba team should pick him up, centers are rare nowdays, haddadi's built a good resume for himself so i dont see why they wouldnt take him for some cheap money, only thing is he gets paid like 1.5 mil/year so he'd have to take a big cut if he wants to stay in nba, i hope he does cuz its better for his career

no way, he loves his freedom here, it'll be depressing if he goes to iran. Part of the reason he got into this mess with the girl is cuz of his manager, mayar zokai who basically throws persian parties and events, so he's always goin out and get treated like a super star. In iran, he wont have any of that.

I'll take Travis knight any day of the week over big country. Big country was a bust from day one. He sucked against UCLA in the 95 final four matcup. Travis knight did enough behind shaq that made rick pitino give him a huge contract to play for the Celts. Even back then I thought pitino was crazy but at least knight did enough to get the second contract of his NBA career

Right now the Grizzlies is crushing the Bobcats in the first half, score is 59-36.

Believe it or not, Haddadi is actually getting some playing time tonight. So far he has been on the field for 2.48 minutes, and he actually scored 2 points (lay-up).

              Still one half to go...

He's never been in the rotation to begin with to even get back in. Ever since he signed with the Grizzlies, he's been riding the pine (behind the likes of Marc Gasol, Hasheem Thabeet, and even Steven Hunter last season)

His best chance is with another team, but honestly, I don't even see him getting a chance anywhere else he goes. I think Hamed is pretty skilled, but is just too stiff/slow for the NBA game. He's a big body with a soft touch around the basket. I think he could excel in places like Europe where he was offered a while back...

u dont need to be fast as a center, hardly any centers are so called "fast" like i mentioned earlier, as a 2nd string back up center, if u can do the basics, u can be in at least half the teams in NBA....if u can rebound, have a presence in the middle and set good screens, give some passes (all of which hamed can do and has done) then u can do the job 10-15min/game

not only that but he's a good shooter....even shoots 3 pointers

i think most of all this has to the fact that he's IRANIAN...nba fans and media like to judge according to history, since iran doesnt have a basketball history, they see like one play from him and conclude that he's slow, stiff or weak...but he's far from that, he holds his ground very good against strong players. People assume just cuz a college player like thabeet is from UCONN, DUKE, KENTUCKY, NC, etc....are always big hype cuz of the name of where they came from....or even european players from former yugoslavia, now spain, etc....have a good rep cuz of previous players in the league.....this makes no sense cuz it has nothing to do with where u came from.

I remember they were trying to compare thabeet to olajuwon and mutombo just cuz he was african akhe che rabti dare?? their games were way different than this guy but since his african he's gonna be like them

True, but I didn't say you need to be fast play center. I just don't think he's up to par with the rest of the NBA in terms of pure athleticism. You're right though, he possess good skills to be a nice center off the bench and do all the little things. He definitely has a nose for the ball and can clean up the glass. Offensive game is good around the basket too, as I said earlier. I know Hamed and have seen him play in person a few times. He just needs a better opportunity like I said.

Lol Thabeet has been terrible. I'll give him another year before calling him a BUST though, but only because I'm nice.

Mutumbo is the best comparison though, only because of Africa, their size, and defensive ability. He's just extremely raw offensively. I was surprised when they took him over Rubio/Evans.
