ESPN 30 for 30: Once Brothers

Along with "The Two Escobars", this one was the best one I saw in the entire series. Very sad story, and I know everyone would enjoy watching this whether you are a basketball fan or not as there is a huge theme of how ethnic divisions drove apart close friends after the fall of Yugoslavia.

And true basketball fans will know all about Drazen Petrovic, the greatest European player of all time and All NBA 3rd teamer before dying in a car accident at age 28 in 1993:

Yep I remember watching this a few months ago and it brought back memories. Man Drazen Petrovic was certainly a rising star for the Nets. He had such a sweet shot one of the purest basketball shooters back then. It's sad that Vlade and Drazen couldn't patch things up. I give Vlade mad respect for going to Croatia and visiting Drazen's grave. I'm sure that was very hard on him. I think Vlade genuinly wasen't doing anything evil in his mind when he threw that Croatian national flag when Yugoslovia won. He was probably trying to say, "We won as Yugoslovia" and people took that out of context but that was the cause of their break up.

I remember watching the news I was 11 years old and I cried when they announced Drazen Petrovic was killed in a car accident. I was a Laker fan but he was one of my favorite players. Drazen and Vlade were the first wave of European players to come to America and make it in the NBA.

Man imagine if Yugoslovia would not of gotten broken up and they could of had Petrovic, Ku**** and Vlade all on the same team!

Its ironic, because if that was a Serbia flag I bet Vlade would've probably done the exact same thing and he'd come out as a hero/noble man/unifier.

Also, don't forget they had Dino Radja on the team as well who used to play for the Boston Celtics.

One of my best friends in Vancouver is the nephew of Vlade Divac. They have the same last name and everything. At school all the kids knew him for that. His name Luka, just like Vlade's son...

Oh that's right I forgot about Dino Radja as well. You are right if that was a Serbian flag he would of thrown on the ground Vlade would of been seen in a different light. I felt bad for Vlade though when I think it was either in 94 or 95 Yugoslovia won the European championships and the Croatians came in third. The Croatian team walked off the podium when they were giving the Serbians their medals.

                          Bad form.

Anyways it's really sad because Drazen Petrovic was certainly a rising star and he could of possibly been one of the great ones. Certainly his career got cut short sadly. His last year he made it on the all stars. Truly it was sad and I remember crying when I was watching the news because although I was a Laker fan, he was one of my favorite players.

ESPN finally making quality programs, unlike their stupid sportcenter and highlights show. Their WC coverage was ok but as soon as the final was over they stopped everything, no review, no highlights, no post interviews, celebrations, nothing....overally ESPN sucks, they repeat the same highlights a million times and their coverage is focused purely on baseball, football and college, as a sports channel with so many other channels, they can give coverage to many other sports, im not talking about just soccer, but everything else
