Exclusive: Carlos Queiroz Snubs Iran; Will Become New Saudi Arabia Coach

Carlos Queiroz has decided his next job will be in Saudi Arabia rather than Iran...

Former Portugal boss and Manchester Untied assistant Carlos Queiroz has passed up the opportunity to coach Iran despite being in advanced negotiations with the Iran Football Federation (IFF).

IFF president Ali Kaffashian was expected to announce the appointment of the 57-year-old as national team boss on Tuesday on a four-year contract, but due to the political problems in Tehran, Queiroz has backed out of the negotiations.

A source close to the Portuguese tactician has told Goal.com that he is instead going to become manager for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

Queiroz was heavily criticised for Portugal's performance at the 2010 World Cup, where the Seleccao lost 1-0 to Spain in the Round of 16.

WOW This is what I've been waiting to hear. If he rejected the Iran offer, and stayed in Europe, then I would say he actually wanted the Iran offer and things didn't work out. But if he actually does become the new KSA coach, then this means Iran was just a bargaining chip so the Arabs increase their offer. We'll just have to wait and see if he this is true.
