1 Italian team in the last 8 is not something to be proud of...I've learnt it's not what you have in your life, but who you have in your life that counts

CL results 2011/2012
all 3 serie A teams made next round
only 2 teams from bundesliga, la liga and EPL (despite each having 4 spots each vs. serie A 3 spots)
so yea hold on to your horses before you talk shit about a leauge after only a year or two of bad performances. Right now by far serie A and bundesliga are the most exciting leagues while in england and spain only 2 teams dominate. Greatest part is seeing the top 2 EPL teams be out !

how old are you? really i like to know
alot of youngsters now days arent old enough to know history of football so they think these super teams of this decade are what football used to be. For decades...1980s up to mid 2000s, italian league was hands down the best league in the world...maybe late 90s forward it started shifting a little but italian teams still did great. in 80s and 90s the best players went to italy and there was no contest. Since the scandal of 2006 and inter fukkin up the league, its been suffering but nonetheless its still competitive and teams are on their way back up. So yes a real fan stays loyal thru bad times. The league is not what it used to be but it was expected considering the scandal, bad economy, lack of investment, old stadiums but all that will change soon, im not gonna jump ship everytime my team does bad.

Just like naap said, Italy had 4 spots (3+1) from the beginning, but Udinese failed to qualify to the group stage of CL. And Bundesliga only had 3 spots (2+1) actually, not four. You mixed up here a little, the 4 spots will be awarded to BL the upcoming season.
France, Russia and Germany all had 2 teams advancing, but if you reverse it you'll see that those three countries also only had one team each who failed to qualify for this round - just like the Italians. By that I dont mean to say that they have a stronger league than Serie A, but apart from Spain and England, Italy had the biggest chance of having more representatives going through.
And to be fair, I think Milan and Inter had pretty easy groups, there never really was a team threating their advancement in those groups. Thus, in my opinion only Napoli has been impressive. The only big team in this years CL that failed to qualify from an easy group was Manchester United (and perhaps Porto if you call them big).
But I agree with you, I think Serie A is getting healtier again. It is more unpredictable nowadays and thus more excitement involved. Building new stadiums is a step in the right direction, Juventus seems to be back on track. Currently, I would not rank Serie A higher than Bundesliga or PL, but definitely over the Spanish league. The teams behind Real Madrid and Barcelona are very weak.
