i dont think england would win even with rooney, i think the max they could go was semis.

i think the finals will be between italy and brazil with brazil winning in normal time 1-0! remember my words guys u will need to pull this thread out after 2 months again

No I dont think they can, the farthest they can go is probably the Q-Finals but past that they will need a good strong finisher up front to score the goals that the superb midfield of theres create...and I think Michael Owen is the only one capable but most likely cant do it himself, they need Rooney so they better pray he's back in time.

i personally think that england cant do shit even with rooney(altough i support england) because in 1998 beckham made that stupid mistake and in 2002 seaman did that other stupid mistake and this year probably some other retard will make a big mistake

my opinion is that english players are such good footballers for their club teams
but together they dont play that well
even though i think they might be one of those teams able to make it really far in the world cup
they dont empress me that much
all together.. rooney's injury is a BIG BLOW to them
but still.. its England.. they dont just depend on rooney
they got enough other fit talented players.. come on!

I would use Hargreaves over Carrick and King! Other than that its a good line-up if Rooney doesnt make it back in time.

Without Rooney England won't do as good as if they had him. But Owen, Crouch, Defoe, etc... are all strikers that play well with playmakers like
Gerrard and Lampard so basically this whole story is overrated.

England will get to the quarter Finals and lose to Italy, the Final will be Italy vs Brazil. And since winning 4 years ago everyone will think Brazil will lose this time, but they will catch Italy sleeping in defensive mode and win 2-0 and shut critics up.

Laser treatment 'could get Rooney back in five weeks'

                              By Martin Hodgson
                              Published: 07 May 2006

After putting Wayne Rooney in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber to help speed his recovery, the medical team at Manchester United is considering using a revolutionary laser treatment on his broken metatarsal.

A leading sports physiotherapist has offered to treat Rooney with scanning laser therapy, which can cut an injury's recovery time by half. Brian Simpson, an expert in the high-speed treatment of trauma injuries, said this could see the England striker back on the pitch within weeks.

"It's quite feasible that he could be playing again in four to five weeks," he said.

Mr Simpson, the physiotherapist at Ipswich Town during the reign of Sir Bobby Robson, has treated hundreds of sportsmen at his Suffolk clinic, including the former British superbike champion John Reynolds. "I see a lot of top-class bikers with broken collarbones, and we expect to see them racing again in four weeks," he said.

The treatment speeds up the healing process by using powerful lasers to stimulate cells around the injury.

Motorcycle champion Leighton Walker underwent the treatment after a multiple fracture in his arm earlier this year. "I was told I'd never regain full mobility, but I was racing again six weeks after I broke my arm," he said.

Although he has not been formally approached by Manchester United, Mr Simpson said that he was ready to help if called on. But Rooney's doctors may be reluctant to use a treatment that has yet to be thoroughly supported by medical research.
