the most significant event was when Almunia came on, it triggered Messi reminding him of his 4 goals against him last year

watched both legs of Roma-Shakhtar, I have to say no team wants to face Shakhtar in Quarter-finals, what a team. They never gave Barca an easy game in the groups last year and also in European supercup, their pressing and counter-attacks are very very good.
I know Roma is a mediocre team they annihilated but still, fantastic Brazilians. Im hoping for a Spurs V Shakhtar so at least one of them make it to Semis.

Shakhtar unbeaten in 58 home games. . .
I've learnt it's not what you have in your life, but who you have in your life that counts

did you see the atmosphere they create in CL?
no wonder they are unbeaten for so long, every fan probably was waving something. compared to the dull boring roma stadium, and their fans (if they had any lol).

These matches need more Ultras that light fires and punch peoples and riot with police, now that's an atmosphere.

But Im happy the refs made up for mistakes and foul calls against Barca in that tie.
I think Barca would have still scored 2 with rvp on, because Arsenal caused no danger what so ever with him on as well, and defensively he didn't do anything...
you don't understand strategy or tactics do you shayan? they didn't go there for a win they went there for a goal and a draw...all van persie would have been used for would have been a target man to hold the ball up and keep it out of our half.

No one is denying the greatness of Barca, but it was a pathetic display from the referee you can sit there and say he evened up the tie with fouls but that is BS why was Abidal not carded when he put his hands on RVP's throat?

2 years ago Barca were clearly beaten by Chelsea, with this incident it just looks as if UEFA favor Barcelona because without them in the finals they would not generate as much money.

When footballing bodies take action and fine clubs, managers & players for there conduct towards the ref's but don't actually do anything about the refs performance it is an absolute disgrace.

This game would have been different without the card, that could mean anything it could mean that Arsenal could of gone and conceded 5 more goals, it could of meant that it would of remained 1-1, it could of gone 2-1 and into extra time and even penalties, Arsenal could of made another come back....but we will never know because of the inexcusable actions of the referee.

its just disappointing that a game/tie like this will forever be tainted

its wenger who is useless coach, if he didn't start injured fabregas and van presie arsenal would have probably played much better.
doctors said its risk if van persie starts and only can play 20 minutes max, but wenger kept him for an hour, all he did was jogging for an hour he didn't even track back to help his team defend like samuel etoo did for inter last season.
plus he should have been sent off in first half for poking into alvez's eyes off the ball, probably the ref reviewed that decision and had that in mind when he send him off.
nevertheless the game is finished, if you think arsenal deserved to go through then you are wrong because Barca was clearly the most superior taem even in the first leg. even the most bias english pundits on sky admitted the better team went through.
btw benitez looks good as a pundit lol
