Does the NCAA need a fundamental change?

Simple question. Not so simple answers.

Does the NCAA need to start paying players or not? Do they need to enforce the rules better? Are the punishments they met out fair?

With scandals from UConn to OSU to USC, its clear something needs to change. Personally as a Maryland fan I watch as Calhoun got a slap on the wrist (suspended from 3 huskies games in 2012!) and Cam Newton at Auburn essentially got a Heisman for selling his talent (but no doubt he is talented).

What needs to happen? Can the NCAA stay an amateur league or is that a fantasy?

Before we btch that the NCAA is all about money, how about I say it for us all: the NCAA is just concerned about making money. There, it's been said and put out there. Now from there, where should we move?
Pay the players? That loses the value of college football and who's to say one school wont pay more than the other.
I dunno if there is a "right" answer here with handling recruiting, the players, the BCS, perks, etc.
