Who was a better striker for Spain: David Villa or Raul?

David Villa and Raul are unarguably two of the greatest Spanish strikers ever. But who was better in their primes?

Villa has scored 46 goals in 77 international matches.

Raul has 44 goals in 102 international matches.

Although Villa has scored more goals in fewer matches, he has had the best Spanish team feeding him from midfield. Players like Xavi and Iniesta are part of the golden generation and clearly contribute to Villa's total goal tally.

If Raul had Xavi and Iniesta feeding him, he would have much more than 44 goals.

I love Villa but I would have to go with Raul. He is the definition of a natural goal scorer. He was better in the air. He was more of a target striker. Villa is also great in his own right, and I do not mean to take anything away from his talent.

Who would you guys take, and why?

I agree, Raul is the better goal scorer and if he would have had the luxury to practically play with the same team in both club and the national team, I'm sure he would have better chemistry with his teammates which would lead him to score much more goals.

It's a close call, no doubt.

A few years ago, I never would've thought that Villa could be mentioned in the same breath as Raul. But, I must give credit to where it's due, and give Villa his props.

Raul is Almost Still is a more natural Goalscorer than David..!
And like u said a very important factor in Davids goal scoring success at national level is the insanely superior MF pool available for David ATM ..!
The MF is the heart & soul of the current Spain. They got Redunclous amount of talent in Middle of the pitch..!
Besides Raul is clearly a much better CF while Villa thrives much more as a wing attacker using his pace..!
