Source: Derrick Rose Wins MVP Award

CHICAGO -- A person familiar with the decision says Derrick Rose has become the NBA's youngest Most Valuable Player and joins Michael Jordan as the only Bulls players to win the award.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because a formal announcement has not been made. That could come Tuesday, with a formal presentation before Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The news is hardly a surprise after Rose had a spectacular season in which he led Chicago to the best record in the league. He averaged 25 points and 7.7 assists in the regular season.

Rose ended the two-year reign of LeBron James as MVP and the 22-year-old supplanted Wes Unseld, who at 23 was the rookie of the year and youngest MVP with Baltimore Bullets for the 1968-69 season

Best player in the NBA. I hope the Bulls win this year and destroy the Heat in the process (only if Boston doesn't do it first)

let me start off by saying what a gentleman this guy is. just watch his mvp award ceremon and you will see by the way he speaks about his mother and his appreciation for her.

he deserves it he played much better than kobe and lebron this year. the only other real candidates to me were dwight howard and kevin durant.

i think the bulls are going to have a hard time playing against atlanta. its definatel not a favourable matchup for them. atlanta is one of the deepest teams if not the deepest team in the nba. but then again with d. rose on your team, anything is possible. its going to be a tight series

This kid makes me proud to be a Bulls fan (dare I say even more than Jordan did), he is so classy and when he talked about his mother it was so sincere and emotional that I shed a tear for the sheer beauty of it. I love him and this team (no homo)lol...
