Barca has to be the first team to beat United this season, they are undefeated in CL and best defense against best offense again.

Even with Puyol and Abidal back, Barca defence is still vulnerable. Alves is very good attacking wise, but can get unstuck if someone attacks him directly such as Di Maria did in Copa Del Rey final.

I think Di Maria is an excellent example you brought up, because it showed that, despite Alves's offensive abilities, his defensive ones are very limited, especially against a pacy winger such as Di Maria.

However, if you watch the CL first leg, you could see that Pep had deliberately told Alves to play more cautiously, as to not let Di Maria any space.

Another thing is also that Valencia - Manchester United best weapon against Barca (IMO) will most probably as always be playing in the right side, meaning against Abidal if he is fit.

Im very confident a fit Abidal will take care of him Or maybe i am just being too opportunistic

Anyway, in conclusion i agree that Manchester has the better Defence, but not my much.
