Former German football player Rene Schnitzler has admitted to the German football federation that he accepted bribe to manipulate match results.
Schnitzler confessed that he had agreed to take kickbacks from a Dutch working for a betting agency to turn five games against his team of St Pauli between May 2008 and November 2008, Reuters reported on Tuesday.
"He (admitted) that he received payments for four of these games," the federation said.
Upon confession, he was banned for two and a half years from all football-related activities.
He had already publicized having received EUR 100,000 for the purpose and disclosed his long-term addiction to gambling.
