is it only me who's worried to see asia's half berth blown away after getting drawn against a south american side?

i understand everyone's excitement at discussing our group but as bad as this iran team looks i expect us to get through this round.

what worries me is the future rounds.

before the draw was held last night, the officials determined the play-off games for the half berth allocated to each of the continents bar europe.

and we could have drawn any of concacaf, oceana and south american teams.
sadly for asia we got the toughest, and for me the impossible option.

with japan, south korea and australia the most likely nations to qualify automatically i see no other team in asia able to compete against the 5th best team in south america.

i guess iran and saudi have to fight it hard for that final 4th spot from asia.

Baba, I don't know why everyone here thinks Qatar will qualify out of the group. Bahrain is a lot better than Qatar. Qatar couldn't beat Vietnam for gods sakes. I've seen Qatar play also. Just put a "Pengel" amount of pressure on them, and they break apart EASILY! They give away balls and they make countless mistakes. Something I have NOT seen from Bahrain lately. I also haven't seen a lot of grassrolling from Bahrain either. From what I understand and have seen from them as of late, they play good football and they go for the win even if they're up by a goal. We will see what will happen though. My prediction is:

dadash your kind of right but if only bahrain had their AFC cup squad. Qatar lost to japan 3-2 in afc cup , they scored the 1st goal and the 3rd goal in the match. Qatari Officials have invested lots of money on their team + since they will be hosting FWC2014 , qatar team will show their best potentials + don't forget the Bribery.

On other side bahrain has lost their best MF Salman Isa . I just don't think bahrain can do well this year!.

Group B: Italy, Denmark, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Armenia, Malta.

... and compare them with these groups:

Group E: Norway, Slovenia, Switzerland, Albania, Cyprus, Iceland.
Group G: Greece, Slovakia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Lithuania, Latvia, Lichtenstein

Our group coulda easily been one of the top two toughest Asian groups, had it not been for Bahrain going through their political tumoil & Qatar suddenly sucking asss & going through a rough patch..!

I doubt it would have mattered. We've had the playoff against Oceania (2010), CONCACAF (2006) and Europe (2002) before and we still lost.

I agree 100 percent. Bahrain has a lot of political issues in the country and at the same time the team has not been performing anything close to what they did in 2008 & 2009. The team seems much slower and out of touch. I think the political turmoil has already affected this team and the gulf teams are not like Iran or other Strong Asian teams that have many skillful players. they are a small nation with few talents that have been prospered with a lot of investment. And Qatar also sucked against Vietnam. However, they always play very tough against us. If they lose to all the worlds they want to prove themselves to us so I think we should take them very seriously.

This means.......Asian fifth team, will play a playoff game with a sixth South American team, and not Oceania ( New zeland ) !
As Oceania representetive will play against Cocacaf 4 th team.

If we finish 5th and manage to beat the other 5th asian team we will probably face venezuala,colombia,peru etc
will be a very hard task to qualify
