Can someone explain the European clubs championships?

How is the selection for UEFA and chmpioship league made? What is their interaction? What is Intertoto cup?

How do they decide how may team from each country will attend?

I believe that the top teams from each of the European leagues make it to the Champions League. The very top teams qualify directly. How many teams qualify directly form each league is a function of that country’s standing in Europe via some formula I do not know. The teams that finish lower, will enter a playoff to get into the Champion’s league. For example in Germany, top two teams qualify directly. Also the previous year’s CL winner will qualify.

After Champion’s league is the EUFA cup which picks teams that finished lower in the leagues, and after that is the intertoto cup (I believe).

The winner of the toto cup gets to play in the uefa cup too eventually.
