the german are scaring me.

-they were already qualified
-the turks had to win
-they played infront of 50 thousand fanatic turks
-they play totally unimpressed by the crowd with a sovereignty that is scary indeed.
-they go 2:0 ahead
-the turks only score because the germans lost motivation and let it slip
-after that they step it up again and score another one.
-3:1 in Istanbul!!!

-after the game the players state how they had problems to motivate themselves, and apologize that they had let it slip for a few minutes
-the analysers confirm that a few percents to the actual potential had missed in that game.
-others are very respectful, yet it appeares that they just came off some freindly game
etc.

the germans are slowly acquiring that world champion mentality back. with this mentality I believe that they can finally win the world, without luck, good shape or other daily factors.

but first the euro cup.
for the first time since 1996 they are my favourites to win the trophy!

^Germans don't get involve in things like that Nokhodi jan...they play their football and play it the way they know it...I would really really doubt it. I think Germany will go 10/10 games.

they did that once and they were correctly criticized for it by the whole world. after that, they learnt their lesson and stopped.

overall, belgium is a better team than turkey and germany's only narrow win in this group came against belgium (2-1) but football is a game of moments and circumstances, so u never know.

They did it again in 1986, losing intentionally to Denmark so they would get Morocco in the next round instead of Spain.

thats a different story and many teams do it and continue to do it even today.
to lose on purpose to get a weaker opposition is not exactly cheating since ur only deciding ur own fate and nobody else's fate.

it may considered unsportsmanship conduct, or cowardly, but its not cheating. its the teams choice to play in a way to get the easier opponent.

in one of recent euros, i remember holland losing to belarus inorder to reduce its seeding and be placed in POT 2 since POT 1 had teams like austria, switzerland (both hosts) and greece (previous champs) while pot 2 had croatia, italy, and some other strong european teams and obviously its much better to be part of pot 2 and get a pot 1 team rather than be in pot 1 and get a pot 2 team but their ranking was still high enough to get pot 1 and then they got a group with italy, france and one more decent european team landing them in the group of death. they came 1st in that group though.


the austria game is different cos the fate of algeria lied in germany's hand and germany abused it.
