Men's Handball Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament-Road to London 2012

The games have started from today 23rd October and will be going on until 2nd November.

The First Team will qualify for 2012 Olympic Games.

The second Team will qualify for Men's Handball Olympic Qualification Tournaments.

    The groups goes as following:

    Group A

    Iran
    Kuwait
    Qatar
    Saudi Arabia
    Uzbekistan

    Group B

    China
    Japan
    Kazakhstan
    Oman
    South Korea

2 teams advance to the SF games from each group.

These games are pretty crucial but no one is paying attention. It's a chance for a team sport to be in the Olympics! Though South Korea will be favored to take the lone place as they are the dominant Asian powerhouse and the Host simultaneously. But the only team giving them a headache in the Asian Games last year was Iran for sure.

              Day 4 Reslult :

              Group A

              Iran 45- 22 Uzbekistan

One of Iran's main players, the big young fella,Iman Jamali was back in action today after an injury that prevented him playing in the first 2 games.

Iran will take on Qatar in a big and crucial game tomorrow. Beating them will guarantee us a spot in the semis and even maybe topping the group depending on what result will KSA get against Kuwait today.

Edit: KSA has beaten Kuwait 30-21. According to The Iranian Handball Federation site Kuwait played without any motivation and gave away the game deliberately. This way their KSA could top the group as they play Qatar in the last day and if Qatar losses to Iran they will surely lose to KSA on purpose. F**in Arabs do it again

Not surprised at all. Isn't the Asian Handball confederation supposed to very corrupt (even for Asian standards)?

Yes they are corrupted as hell and in Kuwaits (Arabs) favor. That made the International Handball Federation interfere in stuff a few years ago.

Thanks for the update. I don't think we have much of a chance, but lets hope they can do it.

It's still nice to see that Iran is simply active in these sporting events even if nothing comes of them.
"A craftsman pulled a reed from the reedbed, cut holes in it, and called it a human being.
Since then, it's been wailing a tender agony of parting, never mentioning the skill that gave it life as a flute." -- Rumi

Good thoughts, good words, good deeds.

"Iranians are poets and tend to use language as though it were paint, to be spread out, blended, swirled. Words can be presented as pieces in a puzzle, pieces that may or may not fit together neatly." - New York Times
