Their serving game and digs were AMAZING.
Iran has a pretty solid defense but with those American serves, we had no chance.

Iran needs taller players and I am sure after this great performance we will be adding many more players to this as the truth is that Iranians have the potential. I am very proud of this team which will mark for our future success. It always has to start from somewhere that's what every team has done sometime in the past for them to now be considered a world power. This spark was our break through and we will progress because of this mark my words as it brings confidence to our nation and future national players.
And now we know that there are monsters in this sport like this Stanley from the USA and many others in Russian, Italian and etc. In order for us to be better, we have to find equivalent players in our country and work on them. Tall physical players with lots of will and power to succeed. As it was obvious we lost the game to one player not the whole team.
here is the article to prove it:

we still have quite a few tall players like nadi, mousavi, bazargard, ... . proof is that so far our defenders and blockers had done a very good job at the net against some very tall attackers from europe.
where we failed vs usa was receiving the power serves or shots.
the problem we faced was the americans' game was fully based on POWER. power serve and power attacks, especially from the middle. even their blocks were powerful and more importantly, well directed towards inside the court.
I doubt the team can get used to a power game during this tournament. but I hope once they get back home, they can work on this aspect of the game as they will need to be prepared for such power tactics in the olympics.
and yes, I think Iran will qualify for olympics in the upcoming asian qualifiers. No matter how I try to fool myself, I just cant see Iran in the top 3 in this tournament. which is not a tragedy as we have already surpassed all our best records in the international tournaments anyway.
and maybe tired legs and fatigue did have a say in how they received the US attacks. but by ANY standards, the americans were too powerful in their serves to allow much room for our response
