Iranian snooker player Hossein Vafaei has defeated Wales star Lee Walker in the final of the IBSF World Snooker Championship.
The 17-year-old Iranian beat Walker 10-9 in the best of 19 frames final after a 10-hour battle to claim the championship in the Indian city of Bangalore.
“The pressure got to me in the end. But I have learnt a bit about how to play under pressure. I thought I had him but Lee is a great player. I am just shocked; I don't know what to say as I hold the trophy,” he said after the match.
The Iranian outclassed opponents from Austria, India, Ireland, Scotland, Afghanistan, Russia, and Australia to reach the final.
The victory gives Vafaei a ticket for the professional tour next year and a check for $6,400.
The IBSF World Snooker Championship was held from November 27 to December 3 in India, with 85 snooker players from around the globe participating.
