Disaster in Egyptian Stadium , riots, pitch invasion & deaths!!!!

I am watching live TV broadcast of the horrible scenes in Port Said stadium after the match between AlMasri & Al Ahli teams has finished with a pitch invasion and fans attacking visiting Al Ahli players and pandemonium that followed.

The announcer said at least 40 people have already died in the stampede and due to the fighting.

    This is truly regrettable.

    wow

these arabs are crazy....and u know why? cuz they live in such conservative life styles and they have to let loose some how. I mean they are conservative mostly to the bone like in public they cant do stuff like that or in family so its really hard for a man to hit on a woman. In iran its forbidden by law but people still do it or ur families dont get upset if u do..so people can do it privately but in arab countries its a lot less and u have to be extra cool guy to get girls...its just tough, ive been to arab countries and i feel bad cuz compared to iran they are free in some ways but soooo restricted by religion.

Its because of lack of standards. People dying in stadium stampedes was not that uncommon until the late 80s where because of the Hillsborough disaster, responsible governments actually implemented guidelines on seating, exits,...

I am following the progress and this is a startling claims coming out from many quarters. It is claimed that this event is per-mediated by the authority and politically motivated. The reason: For the current Military Rulers to delay the civilian rule and spread the idea that the country is not safe to be handed out to the civilian government.

I will not be one bit surprised if this claim is true. Hosni Mobark is still ruling Egypt in Absentee.

BTW: The Egyptians are civilized and peace loving people. I have dealt with them all my life.

Egypt: 'Up to 40' killed in Egypt football violence

There is bitter rivalry between the two teams

            Egypt's Revolution

Up to 40 people have been killed in fan clashes following a football match in the Egyptian city of Port Said, state television reports.

The deaths occurred after supporters invaded the pitch following a match between top-tier clubs Masry and Ahly on Wednesday.
It is feared the death toll could rise as scores have been injured.
Some of the dead were security officers, the Associated Press quoted a morgue official as saying.
The BBC's Jon Leyne in Cairo says it appears fans had taken knives into the stadium.
Our correspondent says the lack of the usual level of security in the stadium might have contributed to the clashes.
Police in Egypt have been keeping a much lower profile since last year's popular protests that ousted President Hosni Mubarak from power.
Bitter rivalry Television pictures have shown images of crowds descending into the stadium, chasing rical fans and players.
Some were cornered in the stadium, parts of which were set on fire.
Egyptian fans are notoriously violent, says our correspondent, particularly supporters of Ahly known as the Ultras.
They have been heavily implicated in the political confrontations recently, our correspondent adds.
Wednesday's violence broke out at the end of the match, which, unusually, the Port Said side Masry won 3-1.
As match ended, their fans flooded onto the pitch attacking Ahly players and fans.
It is one of the worst football-related incidents in Egypt.

                    i am speechless!
IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

Al Ahli club . the equivalent of Perspolis in Iran in popularity and support , has suspended all its sporting activities and not only football , until further notice. The Egypt FA suspended the league , the prime Minister of Egypt has dissolved the Egyptian FA , Governor of Port Said has resigned. people want the culprits to be prosecuted. All the signs lead to a complacency by the security forces while claims of premeditated criminal acts is still very strong.

This is ugly politics that has poked its deadly nose in the beautiful game of football.

                              http://newenglishreview.org/blog_dir.../blog_id/40486

A popular ultra-conservative Salafist sheikh in Egypt has said that the victims at a match in Port Said last week were not “martyrs” and had died in sin because football is forbidden in Islam.

Spokesman of the Salafi Preaching Movement in the country, Sheikh Abdul Moneim al-Shahat, who lost an attempt to enter parliament, said in a speech on Monday that those who were killed in Port Said stadium, did not sacrifice their lives for God.

“They were not in a war fighting for God, they were just having fun. This fun distracts Muslims from worshipping God,” he said in the sermon he gave at a mosque in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria. Shahat added that the “fun” which victims sought when they went to the stadium is “forbidden in Islam.”

Shahat continued to reveal the only three sports permissible in Islam. “Only three sports are allowed in Islam: shooting, swimming, and horseback riding. Other sports are forbidden,” he added.

Shahat continued to say that football is a sport imported from the West and criticized football players who join foreign clubs. Money spent on football, Shahat argued, should go instead to Qur’an recitation competitions.

Shahat has not shied away from controversy in recent months. Last year, he spoke out about the idea of covering statues in the country, describing them as “idols.”
I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.
