New England Manager Roy Hodgson talks of his time coaching Arabs...

"That was a period where I didn't know where my career was going. But all these experiences enrich you and it was good to know I could get my message to players who many say are uncoachable. It's hard work; they're basically lazy. But I had them drilled and pressuring opponents almost like an English team. Most coaches who go there are just fannying around, but it's not my nature."

True. He was speaking of his experience managing the UAE National Team from 2002-04.

I respect his brutal honesty and no-nonsense approach. I think he is a very intelligent manager with a high degree of understanding, and a true gentleman also. I wish him all the best as England manager.

I think in terms of international football, Iran's players do tend to put the effort in for their country.
In recent years, we have had many technically inferior players which may explain our lack of success...but that is a different matter to not putting effort in.

LOL this guy is a joke though, I doubt he will even get England out of their group, even though England have one of the easiest groups!

He has extensive domestic and international experience.

He took Switzerland to WC 1994 and euro 1996, taking them to third in the FIFA rankings. Under his management, Finland were 3 points away from qualifying for their first major tournament in a group that included Portugal and Poland. He has won numerous titles in the Swedish league and managed Inter Milan.

                Hardly "a joke".

kaka10 is right, he will not do shit for england. They will be out of group stages, if they get lucky to next round, for sure they'll lose the first knockout game.

Face it, England has never ever been a dangerous team. They've never done anything in decades and are only living off the name of the league. I cannot remember the last time England actually beat a good team convincingly.

Majidi's move to Qatar must have been the last straw.
