Iran beats hosts to win 2012 Freestyle Wrestling World Cup

The Iranian team advanced to the finals after defeating the US 4-3 in round four on Saturday. Earlier on Sunday, the Americans beat Russia 5-2 to clinch the bronze medal. Iran defeated Azerbaijan 4-3 in the last clash of the tournament in the Sarhadchi Sport Olympic Center on Sunday to win the tournament for the fifth time.

No that match was in the group stages ^^

These were the results

Group A: Iran, Turkey, USA, Japan, Georgia

Group B: Azerbaijan, Russia, Bulgaria, Belarus, Kazakhstan


Iran won their group beating Turkey 7-0, Georgia 5-2, USA 4-3 and Japan 5-2

Azerbaijan won their group beating Belarus 6-1, Russia 7-0, Bulgaria 7-0 and Kazakhstan 7-0

Then we beat them in the final 4-3.

Although we should take into consideration Russia didn't send anywhere near their best team. They sent like their #5 wrestlers in each weight because they have their national championship coming up soon and their best guys will wrestle there for a place on the olympic team. Azerbaijan, Iran, USA and Georgia sent pretty much there best teams.

Yazdani also had a rematch with the Turk Balci who he beat in Istanbul final and beat him up even worse this time haha he used the same move he used in the final aswell when he launched him up into the air lol
