Barcelona in 60 million-euro deal for Neymar

Barcelona set to outlay $71 million to lure Brazilian starlet Neymar to Camp Nou

Barcelona have reportedly won the race to sign Brazil sensation Neymar by securing a $71 million deal for the striker.

The Catalan club is hopeful of bringing Neymar to the Camp Nou after the London Olympic Games although it is unlikely he will move before the 2013-2014 season, Brazilian website Intereconomia reported.
The 20-year-old is currently contracted with Brazilian club Santos until the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Barcelona is understood to have made a down-payment for the star which guarantees his transfer to the reigning FIFA Club World Cup champion.

News of the deal follows calls from former Brazil international strikers Ronaldo and Rivaldo for Neymar to join a European club to fulfill his potential.

The reported deal ends the hopes of Chelsea, Juventus and Real Madrid, which have also expressed their interest in the starlet.

The deal is the third biggest transfer fee in the history of the sport.

disappointed in barca in the recent years with their over spending like real, man city and them...
i think neymar is overrated too...not sure what their huge need is for strikers every year when they have messi, villa, sanchez and pedro

Yeah, Barca is making a mistake. Neymar is getting over-hyped because there is no one else coming out of Brazil... well no one else that I have heard of.

ya prob so.....seems like there arent real scouts out there anymore. Just a bunch of he say she say hype and teams get interested.

i dont know why they even rate brazilian league, its weak and yes you see nice goals but i see nicer goals in columbia, chile and argentina.

I mostly agree, I've been following Boca Juniors for a month and I've seen better football from Argentine teams than Corinthians (who I watched in the Copa Libertadores final)

Neymar IS overhyped, but he has A LOT of talent, I think that barcelona can make him 2x what he is.

he was good but no where near what messi has done. ronaldinho was more just flashy stuff, barca sold him at the right time cuz after that his career went down.
Messi is 24-25 if they sell him it would be to man city for like 100 mil.

neymar is good but overrated. He is one of the hottest prospects right now, but there are people that are just as good if not better without his hype.
I don't like his c0cky attitude though, and I don't want him at Barca.

Then he will be perfect in La liga! The entire league is filled with pussies who dive like girls.

I feel that Eden Hazard is going to have a better club career than Neymar.
