    6 Gold?
That's insane. I would love it, but I doubt it.

well you are right, the bookies have them all as favourites, all by different % for instance Salimi has 70-80 % chance of gold Sorian they predeict have only 50 and some others less than 50 but all of them are favourites to win the gold... Alll of them togheter are not favorites to win 6 gold together but less...

Six gold medals would see Iran finish between 13 - 17 in the medal count. From one perspective, I'd like to be optimistic and believe that we can achieve this goal (especially following our fantastic performance during the 2010 Asian games). From another perspective, it's not uncommon for us to be disappointed by Iranian athletes.

Beomid-e khoda, Iranian athletes will play at their very best. That's all we can wish for.

I am quite disappointed Iran does not send more athletes in various areas. I mean after all swimming and running are usually cheap sports, so why not have them in Iran? Check out http://www.london2012.com/sports/ for all the options which exist. I wonder why the ayatollahs are not encouraging the youth to participate from their schools.

Abdusalam Gadisov, Russia's #1. He beat Yazdani this year in the Iranian league final although apparently Yazdani was injured and couldn't continue in the 3rd period and he's beaten many great Russian wrestlers this year to become #1. Gatsalov, Saidov, Muradov, Ketoev.....

^Yes, I'm not exactly sure in what sports tho, but Iran is involved in 3 competitions tommorow. (28th July)
If you google "Iran os 2012 london" then there you can see all of our games upcoming. Would be sweet if we got in to the top 20 in the medal count!!
The one that I'm certain will get gold is Behdad Salimi !!!
According to a betting site called bet365 you get the odds for Salimi winning everything is 1.36, which is pretty damn good! the second person with best odds is Sajjad Anoushiravani has 7.50, another Iranian!
So it's pretty certain that we'll get a gold medal in weight liftning!
Also Sohrab Moradi is predicted to get silver medal in 85kg weight liftning.

Overall feels like I got a little too excited

Just watching the opening ceremony... The Iran flag bearer seemed to be insecure and unhappy. Also those women athletes looking ridiculous in head scarves. Once again an embarassment in front of billions of audience.

really ... did u see turkey's flag brear?! ... what a beautiful, proud, and confident young lady, as well as their other women contingency, all happy, smiling, free, and good looking ... why couldn't iran's version of islam be the same as turkey, more moderate and more peaceful ... i envy them!!!!

still, here's hoping that all our athletes will compete hard do us all proud ... i'm sure that some of our women athletes are wearing the manto-e islami against their own wil, but have no choice if they wanna compete under the IR flag.

All I care about is Iran's placing in weightlifting and wrestling. It is funny to me that we Iranians flourish in these strongman competitions.
