Iran and cycling or rowing is like afghanistan and football. We only have weightlifting and fight sports to look for.

what I hate in the olympics is to see so few iranian athletes and see the usual americans, germans russians, chineses and french everywhere.

You have to put things in context - when you do, you'll realize we did very well today. By no means are we expecting a medal in any of the sports we are participating in today however what Elaheh Ahmadi did was a great achievement and milestone in its own right.

Don't want to create an other shah vs ir thread but had we more athletes representing iran during shah in sports other than weightlifting and fight sports?

We may have had more athletes competing but I think we won less medals.

Update: Both our rowers came 6th in their respective heats and are now eliminated. The only remaining event for today is the table tennis (round of 128) match.

Got a video shot of the 2 iranian cyclists (7mins behind the rest) with their "IR IRAN" car following them... it was funny cause they weren't letting people cross the road, everyone got tired of waiting and they started jumping the barriers and then suddenly our cyclists showed up..

Good thing is that everyone cheered them on, can upload it but its very short...
