If the guy was American or Jewish, it would be worldwide news. Probably any institution would go after this case. But because he's from Iran, it doesn't matter at all. You know, it's just Iran...

Well before this match there was a match between a Azarbayjani and a Japanese, with the Azarbayjani winning the game.

Japan however, appealed agaist the ruling and the AIBA appointed the Japanese as the winner altering the match results.

So I don't get the "tight schedule" comments here.......but playing the victim role is always easier than getting what you deserve I guess

I believe the committee is taking the stance that no appeal can be done since he didn't shake the refs hand.

Frank Scharmak is the biggest troublemaker in AIBA I have to speak out on this injustice.

like it or not, guys ... in this day and age, everything is political.
if a people or a country is well liked (or disliked), in most international events (political, sporting, cultural, ...etc), the likability (or dislike, in our case) follows and shines through.

afterall many of these events are conducted by people and obviously affected by people's sentiments, no matter how much they try to say such things are impartial or not partisan

but the difference was that the japanese and azerbaijany fought till the end, and the controversy was over the ruling. the entire fight was completed, but they changed the final decision. in mazaheri's case, he didn't finish the fight, so they would either have to have a re-do (which is impossible), or let the decision stand...

^it's the olympics, i 99.99999% doubt that. We just got the short end of the stick. We had a k!ri ref who calls it tighter than usual refs and got shafted this time, end of story rly. It just sucks it had to be one of our Olympians.

And according to Sharkie, "our Iranian athletes so far are doing a tremendous job in defying all expectations and making quite an impression in the global stage. "

Iran hasn't participated in any of its strong events yet. Let's wait till the end before we get negative.

The Mexican TV showed a few seconds of the match, I understand little Spanish but they seemed to mention the refs obscure decision. In the scene that they were showing, Mazaheri appeared bigger and was dominating the other boxer, as if the two were in different weight classes!
