Do not forget about Ehsan Haddadi the discus thrower. He is also a medal contender.

It has everything to do with IR. Management is everything. North Korea is an improvished country with barely enough food to keep its people dying from starvation and they get 4 golds, what does that tell you? It says that they've managed to allocatd their resources properly. They're doing marvelously with what they have.

Iran is the 17th largest economy by PPP and we have a bigger pop'n. We should be outperforming them.

I don't understand why some of you call others names for keeping it real. This is not optimism, this is just making yourself feel better.

^So far Rostami was expected to get gold, who else? You said two gold medals.

The first iranian lifter was clearly injured.
Thats why he missed all his attempts and went out.

Rostami's bronz is worth a gold to me because, as Tavakoli (former Olympic gold medalist in Sydney 2000) also said on IRIB, he wasn't 100% fit tonight.

One of his wrists looked weak...

Most medals Iran has ever won in Olympics was 7 in 1952. That year we did not win any gold.

Most gold medals Iran has ever won in Olympics was 3 in 2000.

Know Iran's history in Olympics before you call this fail and catastrophe.

this is absolute bs to the highest level. North korea's capital is very rich and a lot of its resources are plowed in to create young athletes and train them to their highest of abilities to show the rest of the world that they are coping just fine. its outside north korea's capital were there is a huge amount of poverty, if you lived in North Korea's capital your standard of living would be decent compared to a large majority of the poorest countries in the world.

also note that there are 100s of nations that have never won a medal at the olympic games.

3 was a fail, this is also a fail.

I don't know about you, but I expect a country of almost 80 mln, with the 17th largest economy in PPP to do much better than this. Why is it that you're so content with borderline failure when our potential is so much more?

                      lmao okay
only on this board you'll find someone saying that living conditions in Pyong Yang are great and use terms such as "very rich."

You guys keep on living in la la land while to world moves on and leaves you in the dust.

We've had so much bad luck so far, our boxers getting cheated out, Sohrab who lifted a total of 388kg last year (3kg more than the gold medal this year) was injured, Rostami not 100% fit. Hopefully this badluck streak will turn around very soon.

I think if our wrestlers do not choke we will break our own record in gold medals. We have 5 world champions in our wrestling teams. We might even break the total medals record as well. We have one world Taekwando world champion. A discus thrower which got bronze in world championship. And Salimi who is also a world champion plus Anoushirvan who is second to him.
