I know this is done and over with but this is Larduet's comment on Mazaheri (taken from the BBC):

"I wanted to keep boxing at least one more round," Larduet said. "He was a weird boxer. Tall, and a little dirty. He didn't want to shake my hand, but I don't care. I'm going to the quarter-finals.

    LOL. What a guy.

If I'm not awake, can someone provide updates for the shooting event? I'm not sure how strong Elaheh Ahmadi is in this particular shooting event but she was fantastic in the 10m Air Rifle event (finishing 6/56). If it's the same format as the previous event, the top 8 will progess to the final round (which takes place 2-3 hours after the qualification round). I don't want people to watch the qualification phase but miss the finals if she makes it.

she's second in the table for now, but I have no idea how this sport works so. And this is still qualification.

She fell behind from the start and the gap increases.

yeah and it still a bit left to go. I think because of the nature of the sport, they're only going to show the final and not the qualification. I keep finding streams that say the video will be available later.

Edit: lol I just realized we have two shooters in the event. One of them is so down on the table that you can't even see her name lol

Let's hope the one that's still alive doesn't mess up and makes the final.

I can't get over the fact that we have no athletes competing in the team sports, especially the Iranian basketball team (my love for this particular team has grown very strong). They were hands down the strongest team in Asia (and still are) in last year’s Asian Championship, and I have to say that it is sad that China gets to represent Asia.

Why is that? After blowing out all their opponents in 7 straight games (even winning some games with a margin of +90) the Iranians advanced to the quarterfinals where they lost a very close battle against Jordan, mainly because of the Iranian players underestimating their opponents (Jordan almost got eliminated in the earlier stage, but managed to reach the final after this win and came very close to defeat the Chinese). The somewhat early exit had the Iranian team not even qualify for the Olympics Qualification Round. Not only was this defeat devastating, what's even worse is the fact that two of Jordanian’s best players in this game (and all other games as well) was later caught doping. FIBA Asia decided not to take any actions (and even if they would they would most likely not have had the tournament replayed). Yes, some (or maybe most) blame should be put on the Iranian team as well, but if the opponents actually cheated it's not easy to accept the defeat.

As for me having a personal grudge against China; they had a strong team some years ago but that was when they had Yao Ming. This China team that currently plays in the Olympics is very weak and I feel that the only reason they qualified is because of them having the Asian Championship being played on home court and thus having an advantage. The 2011-tournament was first going to be played in Lebanon, but FIBA moved it to China for some reason (maybe it was due to safety concerns). As a matter of fact 4 out of the 5 last tournaments have been held in China. That is just ridiculous…

Sure, Iran would not stand a chance in the Olympics (though they might have beaten Nigeria, Tunisia), but it would still be amazing to see this team play, especially because of it being the biggest team sport of the Olympics. Not to mention the exposure the Iranian players would get and maybe getting good contracts from European/NBA teams.
