Iran @ The 2012 Summer Olympics: Day 10 [August 6] - Live Updates
Why is that? Why are Iranian lifters so much weaker in snatch compared to C&J? This seems to be the case with all of them.
Well it's a weightlifting thing really, you are either good in Snatch or C&J but in our case it's because nobody cares much about the Snatch for some Iranian reason.
I think its very funny how the top 10 are all caucasius countries.... with the exception of poland
Im shocked at how none of the large countries made the top 10
The world's #1 and #2 from Russia did not participate that's why the records were so low and competition close.
We are now 24th.
Any other medal hopes till the end of the games?
We have Behdad Salimi (gold probably), Sajjad something (silver probably), Reza Yazdani (silver probably) and two more wrestlers who the bookies predict to get gold medals.

In most other weightlifting tournaments it seems that C&J and Snatch are counted as separate disciplines. You can become a champion in just one of them. In the Olympics, they are obviously combined. It may be the case that Iranians just focus and train more for C&J.
1 more gold would put us solidly around the 15th position overall.
... which brought me 2 day dream the idea that if our good 'ol iran of shah's time had continued on, without us going back 100 yrs. in 1979, we would easily ... in fact, most definitely ... been in the top 10 of the world in every summer olympics ... still, a big khasteh nabashid 2 all our pahlevans 4 doing us proud, despite all the shortcomings.
