An Iranian wrestler in Azerbaijan team!!!

He couldnt make the Iranian team so he chose to give it a go for the fake Azerbaijan. Similar to the other thread I made re: Irooni wrestler that is now with Australia. Unfortunately this is the way it goes, Olympics is becoming too 'professional'. I wouldnt call him a traitor necessarily.

Again, let's look at the brightside of this. Here's how I look at it even though I dislike this: It's great to see all these Iranian names spread out on the wrestling paper, regardless of the difference in the flag. What I mean is, even if Saman is a traitor (I doubt he is, I think he just wanted to participate in the olympics cause Iran didn't have a spot for him), he is an IRANIAN and everyone knows that. I just read that an Iranian is wrestling for Australia as well. I think we should all be happy to have our Persian brothers scattered everywhere.

what value does an olympic metal have if it is not for your country?! if you told me right now get up from behind the computer and we will give you a gold medal in 100 meters or gold medal in weightlifting but you will receive the medal as an azarbaijani i would refuse. the only joy and pride associated with an olympic metal belongs to you winning it for your country!

He is Kurd and the reason he went to Azerbaijan is because coach Banna told him he would never have him on his team again.

Banna was offerd lots of dollars 2 from the qatar of "europe" but he said no i dont care about money i want to help my country.. Thats the diffrent between this xxxxxx to mr Banna. saman Tahmasebianov is already out from composition hahahah

Not a big loss. He wasnt in the squad in the last senior world cup in 2011. But Why Akhlagi represent us in Olympic games and not Nematpour?? In the World Cup last year he loose only against the Gold Medal winner of today Khugaev

as long as he acknowledges he is Iranian, and doesn't call himself australian i am completely ok with this. Its understandable if he couldn't make the iranian squad and only took this as an opportunity for his wrestling carrear. Same will probably be the case with steven batashour. If he gets called up to the US national team people will bash him hard and call him a vatan foroush.

both Azerbaijan and Turkey are very active in recruiting foreigners for their teams. they offer money and many financial benefits

^^there is nothing wrong with him, there is too much party bazi when it comes to TM selection in ALL sports in iran. when someone who has talent is not invited because he is not or does not have a dallal in the TM why should he stay in iran??? would you stay in iran??

There is nothing wrong with emigrating to another nation and representing that nation. It's 100 percent fine. But that's not what he did. He considers himself Iranian full on, but he's representing another nation because he wasn't selected!?! This is insanely odd. The politics of his non-selection are completely and utterly irrelevent. The whole idea of it makes no sense.
