I'm shattered and PROUD - I hope we won't forget these names

    What a roller coaster ride!

I never though a sport, other than football, can take me through so many emotions in a matter of minutes.

However, Navab Nasirshelal's faith in the weightlifting really moved me.
Almost two hours have passed since he finished his competition and I still can't recover...

When he made his penultimate try, which took him to the top of the standings, I was in ectasy.

It suddenly found myself standing in my chair and clapping like crazy.
And, then I realized something else:

I was standing all alone in the middle of the office with no one around.

I was so captured by Nasirshelal's performance that I didn't realize when everybody else in the building left one by one, leaving me all alone

    And then came the dissapointment.
    The fall from the top.
The ukrainian who stole Nasirshelal's gold with his LAST EFFORT.

    I was shattered.
    I can't even describe how I felt.

My only consolation was Nasirshelal's reaction.
When I saw him smiling, even though his gold had just became silver, it calmed me to some extent.

I'm convinced that had I seen Nasirshelal crying, I would have broke into tears as well.

However, I made a promise to myself:

To NEVER forget this guy's name.
    He made me so emotional.
He came from NO WHERE, nobody expected him to win any medal, and he stole the show.

In MY "standings", he is a champion.
Navab Nasirshelal stroke GOLD in my heart.
    Forever!

Which brings me to my second point:

I hope we won't forget these names:

    Hamid Sourian
    Omid Haji Noorozi
    Navab Nasirshelal

    These guys:

    - Come from no where
    - They make peanuts compared to our over-paid, lazy footballers
    - They get zero media coverage compared to those same footballers

    And, despite all this:

They make us SO PROUD at world stage.

    Vaghan dameshun garm!

    A question:

Does anyone know how much Iran will reward its athlets for gold, silver and bronze medals?

For example, in Romania, if you win an Olympic gold medal, then you'll get:

    - 70.000 euros in prize money
    - A car worth 30.000 euros
    - A life-time income of over 1.000 euros per month.

On a side note, thanks for your post- I found myself cheering in the middle of my office as well. It was quite the experience. Dame hameshon garm

today was a good day hopefully tomorrow we ll get something from hadadi and our other gold metal hopeful in greco roman and the stage we ll be set for our best olympic ever in which i believe we finished 14 th in the world with 7 medals (if i remember correctly). we have a boxer that could make history as well. for me the highlight of the day was when nourouzi won in the finals and him and his coach where hugging and nourouzi suplexed his coach. it was defenately one for the highlight reel.

Damn, I have my headset next to my computer at my office and try to listen to commentating and the stadium noise through my headphones, however in a moment like this even headphones can't keep you too quiet I guess!
