Nonetheless this really made me excited for the 2016 olympics. I never watched the olympics a whole lot until this year and I must say it was a joy the past 2 weeks. Congrats to all of our athletes!!

Agha jan. World cup means nothing. Stadium is not even full. Olympics is the epitome of the best vs the best. Nothing beats Olympic Gold. Our boys did fantastic. Full respect. Coming back from a probable broken leg was pure courage. However, some of our athletes have big stage frights. Varner, was the better wrestler in these Olympics. He wasnt doing that great against the Ukrainian either before he got injured if you really want to have an unbiased view about it

I am sure that he would have done the same if he wasn't injured and had gotten to the final. also, what do you mean varner was the better wrestler? yazdani had a tougher road to semifinal and looked very impressive before injury. furthermore, he got injured against musaev of kyrgyzistan, he was already injured when he began his match against the ukranian. i just think it's really unfortunate, because im sure he could have beaten varner

This seemed to be his last Olympic as he's already 28 yrs old. Hope that he didn't injured his knee to badly, so that he could at least win a WC or two. He deserves that!
And Spyder jan, he already was injured in the QF, yet he still managed to win that round coming from 2-1 behind!
I already somehow had given up hope for him to get a medal, but he was a lot tougher than I thought and managed to wrestle one whole round with an injured knee! And I agree with you that the Olympics are more important than WC, but in football WC are also more important than EC, yet every team that participates in EC give their best to win the EC. Yazdani was way better than Verner last year. It maybe doesn't guarantees a win for Yazdani over Verner, but it gives a good indication. Also don't forget that he already beat two of his toughest opponents.

Yazdani would have destroyed Varner or the Ukrainian if he wasn't injured. The injury also happened clearly in his 1/4 match, he grabbed his knee after an exchange with the asian champion...it was noticed by everybody, including the very good BBC commentators who immediately commented on it. In fact after the 1/4 match, you could clearly see Yazdani's coach come and ask him about his knee.
