It's a fact that he was injured even before the match with the Ukrainian. It was obvious during the end of the match against the guy from Kyrgyzystan that he had some issues with his knees. The injury was worsened when he was pushed back by the Ukrainian (you could see how his legs folded), but it was a factor even before hand.

I agree that the Olympics is very different from the World cup, but there's no need to deny that he was a huge favorite to win the gold. Even after he was rolled out ona wheel chair, the Swedish commentators were speculating whether the American would have had a shadow of chance against a healthy Yazdani and concluded that he probably did not. So they thought that this made the final a bit more "uncertain" and "exciting".

But regarding his injury in the quarters it was his right knee and then he injured his left leg in the semis didn't he?

Reza Yazdani beat the strongest man in this tournament, for that he truely had a chance of winning the gold medal if he wouldn't have gotten injured. This man deserves as much respect as our other athletes

His injury shouldn't overshadow his outstanding display during his run at the Olympics! Injuries is a significant part of sports and unfortunately, our pahlevan was a victim of it. However, he showed doost and gheyrat for his nation and people!
