there was a time i thought chiellini was the best CB in the world, now i think thiago silva has every right to be praised by the media.
i also think rafael varane has the potential to become one of the best, hope mourinho gives him more time.

Kompany was very good last year, the best in EPL ; but that's coz he had a consistent partner (Lescott) with him.. There was a real togetherness..

This year, the new defender,lescott and kolo toure have rotated to play beside Kompany, and he's struggled..

Piss poor is so not true. Maybe he made 1 or 2 mistakes this season. That was his less good games. I watch him every match. He is a beast. Chosen as best defender of the pl last season.

Btw you guys who haven't followed him for years don't know how good a footballer he is. Mancini doesn't allow him to come forward much. In belgium he does and often he dribbles or passes like crazy. Like he did vs Scotland.

best defender in the world? i think youre getting a bit ahead of yourself there....however i do agree he can potentially get there one day.

id put him in my top 10, but not top 5 ahead of puyol, vidic, ramos, pique, or thiago silva who have been consistently the best of the best for years.

and this is coming from a city supporter, i love kompany and his game but its just not right to put him ahead of those guys...in a few years it really will be though!

Well of course poor guys they both go injured more than half of the season.
Before this season, the last time Rio and Vidic played a game together 2 years ago. I'd say right now it has to be Thiago Silva , sucks that he has to be spending his talent in that shitty french league.

Puyol is washed up stop bumping him up, I like Kompany he can both penetrate and seal off holes so in my book he is a top defender not at his best right now but everybody gets into a slump.
