[VIDEO] Best of Hamed Haddadi - 2011/2012

With the upcoming NBA season around the corner it was time to release this video. Initially, I wanted to release it in the end of August, but some minor errors with the syncing of the video kept dragging out the release. Also my university studies started again in September, so I wasn't able to work on it every day.

All in all, making this video was not easy, it was actually quite demanding. Firstly, all the games had to be downloaded and it had to be followed by me going through the videos to find the highlights of Hamed (of course I used NBA's box score and play-by-play to save some time). You might think HH didn't play much last season, but it was quite a lot to watch (just imagine how it would be if he got frequent playing time).

The videos where all in MKV-format and to be able to edit it in Vegas they had to be converted to mp4 to avoid losing any quality. Vegas kept being annoying (as it lags quite a lot when using big HD files) so it took a while to organize and edit the clips needed for this project. For some reason, the last step of rendering the project took lot of time as well and I had to repeat this procedure a couple of times to make the video fully synced. Vegas kept screwing me up by changing the video clips every time I opened the project. It has been a hell to use this program, but it is also the best video editing tool out there so I decided to stick to it. But it has definitely been a pain in the ass...

Anyway, enough with the whining. To the video itself; I’ve put together clips of Hamed's best plays of last season, including all his field goals (except for one) and all his blocks. There were lots of clips of rebounds (some of them has been included), assists and him shooting freethrows but I decided to skip those because the video would then be very long. It is also available in 720p and 1080p:

Also, some of you might notice the watermark (of my initials) in the video; usually I don't mind people downloading videos I put up on YouTube, but last time after I uploaded the video of HH's highlights against the Lakers, some days later the same video started to pop up (either slightly edited or an exact copy) on other channels and they didn't give me any credit for it. Yeah, I know I do the same to NBA (at least I do give them credit in some way), but what’s frustrating is the time I put in to making these videos. Even Footballitarin did this; they uploaded the video on their site and put their own watermark on it as if they had made the video themselves. As it took me like 10 times more making this video I decided to put a watermark on it, so forgive me if it's disturbing.

You are probably right. I guess there really was no need of showing Hamed's ability to get some rebounds as he is the tallest guy on the floor, it should be pretty obvious.

Initially I wanted to put in every positive move he made, like when helping out his teammates to score or similar (meaning plays in which HH would go on unnoticed to most people). This idea actually came to me before Hamed signed his recent contract with the Grizzlies the past summer, so my purpose was to make like a promotion video in case the Grizzlies weren't going to resign him (so if there were any other team looking for a center and showing some interest this video could help him out a little bit, although I doubt the scouts go around looking for players on YouTube). Eventually the Grizzlies went on to sign him, thus I thought there no longer was a reason to have those plays included anymore.

As for the rebounds in the video, I tried to include those in which his presence is highly important due to his big stature, but the video would probably be just as fine without them as well.

Raptor jaan damet garm! Reading through the text and watching the video afterwards somehow made me frustrated lol, because I could feel how much time you spent on this. This takes a lot of dedication & discipline - pretty sure not many would be able to finish the project with so many annoying problems.

Searching/downloading the full matches (HD!), searching/adding a suitable music, cutting out the highlights, converting files, having problems with the video editor... the amount of time and the hard work all for one video is crazy, especially when you do it all alone.
I don’t know how you still managed it, but it’s truly obvious that your one passionate and true fan.
There is nothing wrong with the watermark; in fact you did the absolute right thing.

I still remember your "TOP 10 Goals of TM" - fantastic! I used your video as some kind of "template" to improve my skills.
So I am really happy to see you with another video - more please

If you allow me, I would like to share this video on PFDCTV. Of course not by downloading it - just using the YouTube link to embed it. I can mention your full name, youtube username or anything else. Let me know bro.
I suggest you to also post this on Haddadi's official Facebook page; he surely would love it as well

btw. It seems like cutting out highlights of a Basketball player is more difficult than from a football player, am I right?
Thank you for all the kind words!

You if anyone Persianking jan, knows how it is to do these kind of videos. The big difference is though I make like one every decade while you make like one every day, that's very hard to top. You are the king of highlights and I salute all the time and effort you put into providing us with videos which I (or most people) wouldn't be able to see otherwise. Vaghan dastet dard nakone!

Damn, that football video of mine is quite old. I remember using ULEAD VS making that video and sometimes I longed back to it when I was doing this one. Sony Vegas is a little bit more advanced and has more developed functions so I decided to stick with it in the end, but all those stuff will give one some headaches.

I'll give you free hands and let you do whatever you want to do with this video, I'm totally okay with it. You can put it up on a different link if necessary. If you want to credit me you can just refer to me as in my username [Raptor] or by my initials [BZ] (which is shown in the video).

As for making highlights of basketball; yes, it was quite a lot harder. The thing with basketball is that every play lasts for like 2-3 seconds and most of the time there are no replays shown, while in football every highlight is a little bit longer and is usually followed by at least one replay. And of course, as it is no effective time in basketball the duration of a player's minutes is prolonged quite a lot, thence making the look-through prolonged as well.

the way i see it is that if your highligts are just some routine rebounds that you should be getting then you arent really that important and someone else can do your job, the real highlights are the blocks and his dream shake i would include offensive boards though, that shows hustle

i thought the reb highlights were interesting he was getting some tough rebounds and put backs...its just tht it shouldnt be the beginning of the video, maybe at the end or mixed up in the middle. viewers might get turned off if they see the first min
