Arsenal sign new deal with Emirates
23 November 2012
Arsenal supporters will be dancing with delight after the club signed a new sponsorship deal with Emirates Airlines.
The 150 million pounds, five-year deal could see Arsene Wenger's war-chest groaning with gold ahead of the January transfer window.
As well as the name remaining on the front of the shirt - the ground will continue to be known as the Emirates Stadium until 2028.
The pair first struck a partnership in 2004, with a shirt deal following two years later and chief executive Ivan Gazidis knows the value Emirates have in Arsenal's history.
"This is as dramatic as moving in to the new stadium was in propelling the club forward," Gazidis said.
"Our revenues will grow to put us into the top five revenue clubs in the world, and we think that will give us the platform to reinvest in the team, and push the team forward."
As part of the agreement, the Arsenal football school in Dubai will continue to run - an initiative that's seen over 4000 youngsters through its doors.
But Gunners supporters will be hoping that Wenger is presented with a chequebook to bring some much needed success to the North London side.

Real Madrid announces Emirates sponsorship deal
Real Madrid has signed a five-year sponsorship deal with Dubai-based airline Emirates, club president Florentino Perez announced
Emirates senior vice president Salem Obaidalla told The Associated Press that the deal was worth “almost ?5 million ($7.2 million)” per year and instals the airline as an official partner, but does not include shirt sponsorship.
The airline will receive advertising areas within the Santiago Bernabeu stadium and a VIP box for its customers as part of the tie-up.
The deal does not affect Real’s current shirt sponsorship deal with Austrian gambling operator bwin, which pays the club around ?23 million ($33 million) per year and has a contract until 2013.
Emirates has other sponsorship deals in place with English club Arsenal, Italy’s AC Milan, Hamburg of Germany, France’s Paris St. Germain and Olympiacos of Greece.
Most of Real’s first-team squad attended the announcement of the deal, including captain Iker Casillas, forward Cristiano Ronaldo and Fabio Coentrao.
