^ At the end of the day he was their leader, motivator, and turned those small players into big super stars. Of course Guardiola having to thank Rijkaard for inheriting a great squad but he still took out Deco, Ronaldinho, Zambrotta, Thuram, Gudjohnsen close to his arrival and replaced them with the very reserves he coached for a year or so. When Pep took over Barca they were a mess and he got rid of those players in order to build the team we see today.

Compare that to Mourinho at Inter, a team full of random players, lots of them brought into the club by Mourinho. He got one great season out of them where most players were easily motivated because they were basically kicked out of their old clubs and wanted to prove how good they are. The next season the club was a mess, all the egos wanted to be stars more than work for the club. Mourinho left and no one was around to manage these guys. That would never happen with a manager like Guardiola or Ferguson because these coaches having long term projects to build teams. a team like Manchester United needs a coach for long term stay, of course we will never find another Fergie but I truly believe Pep would be a great replacement.

Where did you read this book? I gotta pick that up too. Guardiola inherited a team with a superb core and he won with them not because he dropped a party boy, an overrated bench warmer and two washed up oldies, he got any player he wanted and spent so much dude underperformed if you ask me. Inter players got kicked out of their clubs? Are you talking about the post Calciopoli Inter? where Moratti swept Juve and the rest's stars?

^ All I'm saying is that Barcelona's position before Pep wasn't all that great either. The transformation speaks for itself. United beat Barcelona in the CL semi the season before Pep. The next season they meet in the CL final and get completely outclassed. I'm not talking about careers though. So to me he made the difference in that team.

bayern has more than enough quality to play barca style... but it just doesnt suit them..... robben, shaqiri, Ribery, Martinez, Lahm, muller, Kroos, Alaba all technical players very capable of playing at or above barcas level.

Ekbatan jan, what I meant was that Man united beat Barcelona right before Pep joined the team and that was in the year 2007-2008 in tthe semi finals and the following season they won the CL outclassing Man United in the Final in Rome.

And he got outclassed by Chelsea in an embarrassing manner in UCL then failed to win La Liga in the same year which forced him to go into hiding.

                            Ferguson surprised by Guardiola move

Sir Alex Ferguson said he was surprised when he learned that Pep Guardiola had chosen to manage Bayern Munich.
Enjoying a year's sabbatical, the former Barcelona manager ended months of speculation over his future by signing a three-year contract at the Allianz Arena.

The Spaniard was expected by many to come to the Premier League, with Manchester City and Chelsea strongly linked with the 42-year-old.

"I was surprised because I didn’t see it coming," Ferguson told reporters. "All the time the talk was about clubs in England.

"But if you assess it as a coach, if you're given the opportunity to manage Bayern Munich it is hard to turn down because they are probably one of the best-run clubs in Europe.

"A fantastic city, a fantastic stadium, good players, good history. It is very easy to choose Bayern Munich with all these circumstances."

Ferguson acknowledged that Bayern's illustrious history and previous stars have a lot of influence on the current state of play at the Allianz Arena.

"Karl-Heinze Rummenigge and Uli Hoeness are involved (at Bayern). You also have Gerd Muller working in the place and I think Sepp Maier is still there," he said.

"That place is loaded with players who made that club’s history. They've always been that way. It's a really well-run club and I think it's easy to accept that offer because of that."

This will probably be the first and I will defend Barcelona. Saying that Chelsea outclassed Barcelona is an exaggeration. I was actually happy that Chelsea won that game but they won it by parking the bus in front the goal. I don't see that as outclassing the opponent.

For a super stacked team like Barcelona led by a legend like Pep, in your opinion, getting kicked out by an inferior oppenent playing with 10 men in Camp Nou, shit man should I continue?
