I was really sweating it when Taghavi lost and Goudarzi was gasping for air, it was really impressive the way he won even though he was in terrible shape. The coach did the right thing not picking him for Burroughs, he was in no shape to confront him.

I was especially impressed by Hamed Tatari in 96kg, I thought this would be a weak spot without Yazdani but he was probably the best wrestler for us throughout the competition.

Oh and Thank you Nariman for losing to Rahimi, it really gave us a boost !

It was a technical decision made by the coaching staff considering he had lost to Burroughs twice in previous WC and Olympics, and also Goudarzi's physical shape. It paid off well today, even though it was a close call. Damesh Garm, showed everyone the Iranian Gheyrat!!!

I think after Taghavi's loss, Goudarzi's amazing win was the key for us. It was huge morale booster; another loss could have made the situation too intense. Good to see that we have good replacements for our injured wrestlers.

btw. lol at AN. I think he did the same back then when we played SA at Azadi. Iran scored and suddenly he appeared, trying to take advantage of the emotional atmosphere.

I think you mix World Championships with World Cup.

This tournament was not the Wrestling World Championships (individual titles) but Wrestling World Cup (team tournament).

Its a team competition!
Most teams have 3 wrestlers per weight category and the coach decides who wrestles in each category versus their opponent in the line up.

The teams face eachother in every category and wrestle and the total resuls count.
Team Iran beat Team US 6:1 (6 wins, 1 loss) and advanced to the finals, were they beat Russia by the same result.

In case of your question Rasul Kahdem decided to let Goudarzi out for US match, probably for first giving him a rest for finals (he was probably certain we win vs US anyway) and secondly because Goudarzi lost in two or three different occassions vs Jordan Burroughs (so since he is going to lose anyway, let him rest and try someone else).
