2013 Asian Five Nations Rugby division tournaments

Basically Iran plays Malaysia in the semi-finals on June 4, 2013. If Iran can win that match and the next they will be promoted to division 1 which is a huge sign of progress considering rugby in Iran has a very short history.
I've always believed Iranians can excel at rugby considering our strengths (weightlifting, wrestling...)
Good luck to our boys in June (Rugby & football)

What I don't like in rugby, is that there is no chance for a small or average rugby nation to become a strong side (the only exception could be Argentina or even Italy).
Contrary to football, rugby isn't a "global" sport, as it is mainly played by British islands countries, AUS, NZ,South Africa, France, Argentina and Italy (we can add some small pacific islands). The rest of the world don't care of this sport and send pushover teams in the world cup (for exemple 50% of the japanese team is NZ players).

i admire those who try it....its good to grow new sports and bring more competition. Most sports are like u mentioned....like maybe at most 10 countries can be competitive, the rest are whatever. even baseball or volleyball

Not all sports. Rugby, Baseball for example are sports that are played by few nations in the world. To stay in the rugby example, even in France a big nation of rugby, this sport is popular only in the south and Paris (the rest of the country don't care even if the french national tv makes everything to promote it, as it is one of the only sports they have the rights).

Other sports are played by a wider pool of nations, even if there is always 10 big nations that trust all the internations trophies. Even with an elitist like tennis, we can see emerging nations coming from nowhere (Serbia won the davis cup some years ago, Serbia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, estonia are sending some good players).
