He had potential to be a good backup center but didn't get any playing time. Samad Nikkah who is our best all around player has been playing in Iran for basically his whole career. What makes you think AK will be any different? Even if he makes the 76ers roster which is packed with young talent he will be playing garbage minutes.
samad and hamed are slow. They are typical player that are great for Europe and china because they do everything sorta well. If samad was so good why didn't e et a contact in the NBA.
And I am not sure if ak will get a contact this year cuz he is not a free agent. He is basically willing to sacrifice a whole years worth of money to get his freedom and that is how confident he is that he will make it. I am even a bigger believer than he is.

Yes i realized that they were too slow. How did Samad ruin Team Melli? If he didn't put up the numbers he did Iran would be nonexistent in international basketball. Maybe you know something i don't, Please explain. As for AK we always hope for the best, but as far as Iranians go in the NBA, I don't have too much hope. Its like the story of our footballers going to Europe.

PB jan, if you can tell Arsalan there are SO many fans behind him and his development. He deserves to be motivated after this rocky start. Is his agent putting pressure on the management to release him or are they deciding whether to sign or not? What's going on?

His commitment is over on Sept 10
So he can sign with any team after that date. Sixers could make a last decision and sign him. Season starts end of October. We
          'll see

I am just gonna break down what the situation is. Hope that helps.
-September 10th is the last day that they can either trade his rights OR sign him. If they don't do either one then they lose his rights and he is free to sign with anyone.
-the GM has made it clear many times that he is NOT gonna release him so do not expect them to just let him walk so expect one of the two cases mentioned above.
            - if they decide to keep him two things can happen. 1) they can offer him a guaranteed contract 2) offer him a tender.
-so what does tender mean? It means he will be part of training camp and they will not lose his rights. They can cut him anytime right before the season starts and he won't get squat but they would lose his rights that way so again I don't expect that to happen.
            - so let's say they decide to keep this no guaranteed contract when the season starts, he will get paid biweekly and they can cut him anytime they want by January first and in that case they don't have to pay him anymore. However, AGIAN they will lose his rights.
            - come January 1st if they still keep him they will have to keep him for the entire duration of the contract which could be as little as 1 year and as much as 4 years.
-***of course at anytime Arsalan could have accepted a contract overseas and the Sixers would keep his rights that way but he decided enough is enough. He either gets signed or he gets his freedom.
            ------
9 more days left. Let's see what happens. For the record, everything I anticipated over the last 2 months has happened. So I expect from this point on to be correct too! 

what I am saying is that he turned down china and won't go to Iran anyway to play in the NBA. It's either the Sixers or if he becomes a free agent then some other team.
What part is confusing? I broke it down by date and gave every scenario possible. If you have any questions ask.

I guess I just do not see him getting any direct contracts and he will end up going overseas. NBA is a tough league to break into and I am not convinced he has what it takes. I was, when he was in his senior season in college and after he got drafted but I just do not see with this years entering class if he will get an opportunity. China might be out of question but he can still go to iran and play.

i respect your opinion but do not agree with it. While I believe he does have what it takes to make it, I also believe that the Sixers are doing everything possible for him to have a hard time finding another team. We'll see

another thing that is puzzling me is that why the hell are Sixers holding on to his rights so tightly, it is not like he is the next hottest prospect out there ( no disrespect to Arsalan) like teams are line up to sign him to a multiyear contract. just let him go, khaly yahood bazi dar meyaran! I am how much money will they loss if they just let him go?

you basically supported my theory that he does belong to the league!
If you are a GM and you can have a player for the league minimum who is mature, total team player, bball IQ off the charts and rebounds and defends better than most, would you let go of him?? I think Sam hinkie is a genius and the prime example is fans like you who actually truly believe Arsalan is not as good as 2 years ago and is not ready for this league. Too bad for the Sixers that AK has someone like me who constantly every freakin day tells him to go all the way with this and either get his freedom or a contract. The reason I do is that I truly believe he does belong to this league and most importantly, the Sixers know he does belong.
But as I have mentioned it a 1000 times, the Sixers have not been serious about winning and Arsalan is that perfect bench player for a winning team. I don't expect the Sixers to let him walk. I think at the minimum a non-guaranteed contract will be coming soon because I highly doubt they will let his rights get wasted.

bro its very easy to understand what is happening.....sixers dont want to let him go cuz they see something in him. If he was a bust and didnt belong in NBA they would not drag this all this time believe me. Why would they waste their time and money if they dont want him? there is no need for them to have him on the side. Sounds like what they're doing is they want to try him again this preseason and the last day of preseason make a decision to keep him or not. If they dont keep him, he can sign with any team which he will have some exposure to in preseason...so thats good and can possibly work a deal then. But sounds like to me what they'll do is they will give him a non-guarantee contract which is paying him biweekly until january and then they have to make a final decision of giving him a contract or not.

Either way, bottom line is, he still has A LOT of opportunities to be part of sixers or another team. ITs just that sixers are indecisive in what they want to do, if they will tank or if they'll take it serious. They want to get something out of ARsalan, either with them or they will sell him to another team.
