If Mohammad Mousavi wasn't injured(he injured his ankle late in the 1st set), we would've beaten US in straight sets. The Iranian players were shocked after that and couldn't get back on track until the 4th set. Kudos to this young guys who battle with all their heart throughout games...

Also huge job by the legendary coach Julio Velasco with those substitiouns, pulling our main setter out and playing Mahdavi(our reserve setter) through the very critical period of the game and also putting faith in Rahman Davoudi from the bench.

If Italy beats Japan 3-0 or 3-1 we will most probably finish 4th but if any other result comes out of that match we will have a good chance for a bronze medal.

2) next, if thats equal, highest sets won / loss difference
3) next if thats also equal, it could be highest number of sets won or lowest number of sets lost or highest number of points scored watever..

its by points, and the points get split if you win in the 5th set its actually a fair system, we were unable to win our games early, hence we got less points,

i know its by points, and i know if u win 3-0 or 3-1 u get full 3 points and the loser gets 0 but if u win 3-2, winner gets 2 points and loser gets 1.

i dont find this a fair system since iran beat 3 of its opponents but italy beat only 2 of its opponents and since there is no draw concept in volleyball, it makes no sense that italy finish higher than iran with less number of matches won

another scenario would be iran beat italy 3-0 but lose to brazil, russia, japan and USA all 3-0 or 3-1. that would give iran total points of 3.
italy lose to iran 3-0, but lose to brazil, russia, jappan and USA all 3-2. that would give italy total of 4 points.
so how is it fair that italy finish above iran without winning a single game and even losing the face to face game with iran???
