English teams in recent years simply can't keep a 11 man team for the full match in the champions league. It's been a curse. Today and yesterdays was deserved, terrible challenges, however last years Man United against Real was ridiculous, and Arsenal against Barca, who got second yellow for scoring an offside goal literally 2seconds after the whistle went, was simply outrageous.

I am not a fan of refs who blow the whistle soosool style every second but the gap between english style and rest of the world is getting bigger every year.IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

I think Ozil's "failure" should be attributed to lack of players who make runs in Arsenal due to injuries (Walcott, Ramsey, Ox-before he came back from injury) Giroud is Arsenal's Ali Daei basically, Sanogo seems hopeful. A player like ozil can only shine if he has players who make runs, defensively he is weak though, piss poor

Ekbatan I never liked having this discussion with you concerning the best leagues in the world because you stay biased to your Serie A and never look at the other arguments people make. The argument was never that EPL has the best 2-3 teams, it was that it was the deepest from top to bottom. European competition was never going to prove or disprove that. If you look at this years Champions league, Arsenal played the most dominant team in the world now with 10 men for 50 minutes, Man City played the best team in the world for the last decade with 10 men for 60 minutes. I don't think one week is a reflection of the overall quality of an entire league. Don't forget there have been 9 premier league teams in the UCL final in the last 10 years, if you're looking for relevant stats about European competition. It would be like looking at Juventus dominance in Serie A over the past years and judging the whole league based on their last years performance and getting outplayed over 2 legs against Bayern.sigpic

barca is third due to inconsistencies.
then there are some teams like chelsea, dortmund, atheletico and PSG who can beat the above 3 if those 3 teams have a bad day.. im not 100% convinced on them
this is assuming arsenal and man city get knocked out this round.Last edited by yashar_fasihnia; 02-26-2014, 12:08 AM.

i've never said serie A was the best league so no need to get defensive. i always make fun of people who compare leagues based on few results in europe. so dont pin that on me like u guys always do.
