Iran to host 2014 FILA Greco-Roman World Cup

Tasnim - Iran has been chosen to host 2014 FILA Greco-Roman World Cup.

The competitions were originally scheduled to be played in Tyumen, Russia on February 15 and 16.

The International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA) decided to postpone this event, because it coincided with the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.

The Iranian wrestling officials submitted a bid to host the competitions.

FILA president Nenad Lalovic has accepted to change the place of the event and it will be held at the Azadi 12,000 seat Stadium in Tehran, Iran on May 15-16.

If all of our greco-roman world champions and olympic champions participate we should easily dominate this tournament with the added home crowd advantage.

        they will

anyway world cup is not as prestigious as world championships. It is only the third most important championships after the Olympics and world championships.

all of them will participate, even though some of them are coming back after 1 or 2 years and in new weights, the squad is most probably something like this

60: Hamid Sourian (Olympic Champion, 5x World Champion)
66: Omid Noroozi (Olympic Champion, World Champion)
          71: Saeid Abdevali (World Champion)
75: Farshad Alizadeh (World Bronze medalist)
80: Habib Akhlaghi (World Bronze medalist)
          85: Taleb Nematpour (World Champion)
          98: Ghasem Rezaei (Olympic Champion)
130: Bashir Babajanzadeh (World Bronze medalist)
