Recently, I've been reading about how pointless this match is and it's got me thinking.

Would it be fair to have the teams who finish in the top 3 automatically qualify for the next World Cup similar to how the Asian Cup works? At the very least, it adds a great deal of significance to the match for 3rd place.

I think Brazil will win, they will have more motivation to at least salvage something after they got owned and I dont think Holland cares too much about this game

IMO, the 3rd and 4th place gam is usually the most interesting game in the WC. It's definitely not pointless. Without it we have to sit home and do gardening, wash the car, or go shopping. But instead, we get the two top teams playing without the usual fear of losing. These games often have a lot of quality goals. More like a top notch friendly.

Yeah, I too think that's usually one of the best games of the WC and like Khodam said, who's going to say no to one more WC game specially on a Saturday?!

I live in the Netherlands and I can tell you nobody is excited for this game. The coach also said this game is just useless and it hurts to play it when you already lost the semi-finals. Netherlands won't give jack about this game and is going to line up their B team, thats for sure. Brazil will do everything to save some face so my guess is that Brazil is going to win this.
