and don't worry, we are not going to play in Spain with this team, at least 4 key players will join the team later, 3 starters (Nikkhah , Kamrani and Afagh) and backup point guard Davoudi. even these players in China can play much better than this, they are not physically in shape yet due to the long vacation.

at the moment we have 7 players to really count on them in Spain, Kamrani, Afagh, Davoudi, Nikkhah, Sahakian, Kazemi and Haddadi. there are some other few good players like Yakhchali and Jamshidi, but they are not consistent.

    Yakhchali ? Really? Lol

Saman Veisi got injured, now we have only Sajjad Mashayekhi in PG position, he is probably number 5 or 6 PG in Iran ! the rest got injured or didn't come here for administrative issues. we will have problems against fast Philippines team.

he what ? you mean he is injured too ? or he is a point guard ?
he is a small forward (or a shooting guard at best) and not a very good one, he is only here because of the absentees. they already invited him (and Mashayekhi) to the B team, means he will say goodbye to the A team after this tournament.

So will this tournament replace the FIBA Asian Championship? After the next edition of the Championship, in order to qualify for the BBALL WC, FIBA will use a qualifying format that FIFA uses for the football WC...and I am assuming this Asian Cup will become the premier tournament for BBALL in Asia.

If I am not mistaken only the winner does. The top 3 of the Asian Championship make the WC and olympics.

no, only 2015 Asian Championship winner qualifies for the Olympics

but from 2019, they will change the format completely , using something like FIFA WC Qualification format. home and away. they will probably dissolve this Asian Cup or make it a championship for second tier teams.

Iran just killed the Philippines...for a basketball crazed nation they really sucked lol. Haddadi was looking like a T Mac/Malone hybrid at the end there before he cramped up.

Looks like we're going to play China again - for the gold medal

Definitely need to step it up this time.
