The day we have waited for is finally upon us boys and girls.

This being the 3rd Germany-Argentina final, it is now officially the most frequently played final of the world cup with Brazil-Italy (twice), being in 2nd place.

Of course, Argentina won the 1st one 3-2 in 86 in the Americas and Germany got revenge 4 years later with a 1-0 win in Europe - coincidentally, that was the last time either team won the world cup, a whole 24 years is how long the fans of these two teams have waited for this day!

Here's the highlights of those two games to get everyone in the mood:

              Here's some useful stats:

              Overall Head-to-Head record: Argentina 9- Germany 6 w/ 5 ties
              World Cup Head-to-Head record (goals in brackets): Germany 3 (11) - Argentina 1 (5) w/ 2 ties.
              Last WC/Competitive Meeting (2010): Germany 4 - Argentina 0
              Last Friendly (2012): Argentina 3 - Germany 1

Overall performance of the two teams in this world cup:

Work rate and other stats for the top players in both team for this world cup:

And of course, the most relevant stat for this game is that NO European team has ever won the WC in the Americas, let alone S. America! Hopefully that's yet another record/trend that will be broken in this WC!

Sammy Khedira out. Big Big loss for the Germans. Might make them the underdog

Argentina's GK Romero is having his form of his life during this WC, I lost the count how many times he saved his team
