Egypt's still gangster. We love you. Don't forget your ancestors invaded them hundreds of years ago. So they still got owned.

          haha rostam

mak, soniq, taha, rostam, what can I say.. a loss is always bad. Kinda had my hopes up for this game since we're not in the World Cup. I think we played well but that means nothing if you don't convert your chances. Egypt relies a lot on massive home support (100k supporters or more some matches), similar to Iran's support at the Azadi. Considering the match was also in Spain, not that horrible. The passing was fluid and fast, the skills and possession were there, but it was mostly Egypt-based players against what looked to me like the full Spanish squad. No Zidan or Mido (still suspended) but that's no excuse. Congrats to Spain. Hopefully they won't underachieve like in every World Cup.

I think any outsider who watched the game will come away with a good impression of Middle Eastern football. Here's a comment from a Spain forum:
First of all i want to praise Egypt because they tried to play some good football and not only use an ultra defensive approach the rely on counters.
I was very impressed how good the Egyptian team was at some moment with some classy moves and had some of their strikers been more accurate they could have scored a goal at least.
Here's a comment from an Egyptian forum that sums up most of our feelings:

Well I also thought we played well. We were scared until Raul scored and then took control in the last 20 minutes of each half. If Spain plays like this against Tunis, Tunis will take them.

I was disappointed with She7ata's lineup because he put three players that all play in the same area (Shawky Abd Rabo A. Hassan) while we would have been better off with a second striker (Gaf3ar).

He was lucky Abd Rabo and Abdelwahab were able to produce some offense from the midfield position and then he made a good sub for Sakka but sent in the wrong player although Halim played well bas '7alas he will not be part of the future NT so he would have been better of giving Ga3far a good 30 mins.

The 2-0 is misleading. It could have been a draw if we finished our chances, the usual problem of Egyptian football. We really do need an inform Mido and Zidan(only if he apologizes IMHO). Mostafa Ga3far can be promising as well bas met3eb da '7alas '7ana2ny.
That's all for Egyptian football for a while. Time for the World Cup. My wishes are for Iran and Tunisia to play to their potential and reach the second round, and for Saudi Arabia to just avoid getting raped.

I know a lot of people here actually wish for them to play like crap (don't have to wish too hard), but I think it would be in the region's best football interests and Asia's as a whole if they at least avoid taking 5+ close from any one opponent.

Pics from the match, Spain hosting Egypt, if anyone cares.

Egpyt has some great young talents, Zidan-Mido....and Zairi(?) i think he's Egyptain though I haven't heard him mentioned with the team.

They have a bright future, I wish we had a friendly vs them it would be a great match.

Hard luck to Egypt, they have played really well in the second round, i think one of the reasons why Egypt lost 2:0 is that the Egyption national team didnt play any match after the African nations cup. I really wish to see Egypt in 2010 they have got the players to do so.

hey thanks a lot guys.. rostam, roy, saudithug, muradistan as always.

roy bro u sure u not misri . you speak the language a little too well. iran and egypt really are pretty much mirror images of each other with the style of play. its too bad we can't join in the fun because i think we at least deserve to be there over teams like angola, togo, and trinidad, but I have a feeling insha Allah Iran will make us all proud. I honestly wish the best for all the teams in the region.

this is the first time they wore the white jerseys rostam. kinda plain but i guess black and white is a safe combo. Egypt wore the red ones during the entire African Cup.

I wish they played each other more often muradistan. I believe the only Egypt/Iran friendly was the one in 2000 in Tehran. Maybe next time you guys can come on over to Cairo, see the pyramids, visit the Shah's burrial, and of course play some footie
