    IRAN wins GRECO ROMAN World Championship for the first time! CONGRATS

    CONGRATULATIONS everybody.

    its the first Greco Roman World Championship Iran has won!!! (Aside the 5 championships in Freestyle).
    Iran garbbed 1 Gold (Sourian), 1 Silver (Norouzi), and 2 Bronze (Biyanbangard, Rezaei) and total of 42 pts ahead of Russia (36 pts).

    earlier this week Iran became Runner Ups in Freestyle with 3 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals.

    Since its our first Greco Championship ever, its a great achievement specially in the absence of of Nematpour (suspended), Abdevali (chosen to concentrate for Asian Games), and Aliyari (suspended).


    Overall a good year for our Wrestling community aside the two world Cups in both Freestyle and Greco earlier won this year!

      ^ doping...

      Aliyari was stripped from his Gold at 2013 world championship due to doping intake and sadly also Nematpour. However Nematpur holds his Gold of last year's championship, he was dopped earlier this year I think.
      Abdevali will concentrate on Asian games and did not participate in Wolrd Championships.

      Overall the Greco competition was a touch one this year, and specially sourian did very well in the new weight category set by FILA.

      ALSO to note Sourian has now won the World Championships a record of 6 times! and is since yesterady the most successful Iranian Wrestler ar World Championships surpassing the legendary Abdollah Movahed (5 Gold in Freestyle World Champs).

              poor guy.. did you see masoud esmaeilpour's clip in "soot"? he says people look at him on the street as if he killed someone, then a sad laugh. and the presenter has to actually tell the audience to value even a silver medal on the world stage. what an ungrateful people we have, they don't deserve these heros who pass up their every comfort to bring us happiness..

                why isn't there a damn thread about the asian games? we have weightlifting and other sports where our teams are participating!

                weighlifting today is scheduled at 19:00 62kg.. is it korean time or ???
