Iran became 3rd at Greco World Cup as host nation!

Team title went to Azarbajedja, Runner ups Russia.


Lets hope our Freestyle wins the world cup again in April, in Los Angeles.

this was World Cup (team competition) not World Championships (Indivdiual Titles Gold, Silver, bronze etc..).

Azarbajedjan won the cup.
Russia Runners Up.
Iran third place.


Iran lost at group stage 2:6 to Azarbajedjan, but won 6:2 vs Sweden, and 7:1 to Germany.
and became the second spot team of Group A.. Hence, had to wrestle with secone spot of Group B Turkey for 3rd place.
While Russia and Azrabajedjan went to finals.

In the final, Azarbajedjan and Russia tied 4:4 with Azarbajedjan winning on total score points.
In the 3rd spot, Iran beat Turkey 6:2 and won Bronze.




Sourian, Norouzi, and Abdevali didn't wrestle in Azarbajedjan or Turkey match.
Not sure whether they were in the roster (2 or 3 wrestlers can be selected in the team roster per weight).
probably they were rested, and coaches wanted to give a chance to others.
I am sure they will return for the World Chamiponship (individual title) later in the year.

you can do the same in April 11-12th for World Cup in Freestyle in Los Angeles.

Last year the arena was packed with lots of Iranians, who also cheered for US team in the 3rd place match between USA vs Ukraine (US won 7:1).
