You have to realize that this is not the volleyball world cup, this is the World League, which is played annually. Therefore this competition isn't even as important as the upcoming volleyball World Cup (starting in a few months).
That is where we will be playing with minnows and do some thrashing. (We are grouped with the likes of Argentina, Japan, Venezuela, Canada, Australia, some African teams, etc...)
Iran is clearly the favourite against those teams.
Fair enough but don't discount Argentina and Canada...they are tough teams and Australia and Japan are getting better each match.
As much as I wanna believe Iran's soccer is as good as our basketball it's our volleyball that's killing it lol
I take nothing away from our volleyball players, but both football and basketball are harder sports. naturally its more competitive to put a strong team together.

That's relative, depending on one's definition of 'harder'.

harder in terms of skill, physicality, co-ordination and tactics; harder in every aspect. both football and basketball are 360degree sports and you have to have a lot more awareness and focus in the game.

Individually maybe, but in terms of team sports basketball is trumped by volleyball. Look at all the handicaps in volleyball, 3 touch max, no palming, tossing, throwing, or catching the ball. In basketball one player can drive and get the point on a play where as in volleyball rarely does one player earn a point for his team on his own (with the exception of a service ace). Also, basketball, a player can move around the half court with relative ease, and can play for fouls, 3 pts, 2pts, and 1s, and so on so forth. Not so in volleyball.

But there is no physical pressure on the player, not every ball is contested like in basketball unless at the net and the player only has to worry about whats in front of him. Which goes back to my 360degree analogy.
Entertainment wise basketball is a lot more entertaining to watch also. Almost everyone in the world would know who Lebron James or Kobe Bryant is. How many people would know of any famous volleyball players?

Popularity and difficulty are different things. As for 360 next time focus on how many times in vball a players back is to the met for a bump or pass...it's quite often.

i wasn't making a correlation between popularity and difficulty, I know their different.
360 pressure from the opponent that's what I'm referring to. Which is not there in volleyball.

In basketball its not 360 either. Your opponent always attacks your net from one basic direction. They may go to one side or straight up the middle in the paint. In volleyball you can argue your opponent can spike, volley, bump at different speeds and elevations. Moreover your opponent in bball can score points at 1 target only the net where as in vball points can be scored from many different places needing more defensive ability and coverage.
You can see arguments for and against the toughest sport can be made all day. It's all relative and subjective.
