2015 FIVB Volleyball World League

France, from 2nd division won the world league 2015. Incredible that a country that doesn't give a sh1t of volley won it, now the media put them and the sport a little bit under the spotlights, before forgetting them after one week.

Hopefully, it will take volleyball out of the current confiditiality in France and ouline Iran strong status here (As Iran only excel in sports that have few coverage currently here)

A team is preparing for World Cup and after that they will have more huge games coming up all being olympic qualifiers. this asian games thing means nothing right now

Because they are stupid to understand the importance of Asian Championships. Iran won this tournament only twice and it was a very good chance to make it 3 at home !!

there is only one good team in South America in Argentina, but still Brazil always participates with A team to win the tournament. Continental tournaments are always important ,if you are strong you have to prove it again and again because once you lose it, you will help other teams to rise.

let me give you an example. China won the Asian Basketball Championship for sometimes like 20 times ! only in 2007 they played with their B team and Iran won that tournament and from then we have another giant in Asian Basketball in Iran. I'm sure Chinese still regret that tournament they could destroy everybody with Yao Ming and their A team.

btw, World Cup is really important, no doubt but World League was NOT, it was stupid to play the whole World League with the same squad, of course right now they have no other option to rest these players for the World Cup.

disagree with you. World league much more important than this asian cup. entire iranian nation stays up to watch all world league matches. they are massive and have bigger audience even than when TM football plays. Also world league is much more prestigous than asian tourneys. sorry but they had no other option than to go all force in world league and they also kept it alive until last game...

A new system has been established. The group 1 in which Iran is in has been extended to 12 teams: Australia, France, Bulgaria and Belgium have been added to that group. The group is going to be divided in to 9 pools with 9 different host nations.

Iran is grouped into 3 different pools which will take place in Brazil, Serbia and Iran.
Their first pool includes Brazil, USA and Argentina and takes place in Brazil
Their second pool includes Serbia, Brazil and Bulgaria and takes place in Serbia
Their last pool includes Serbia, Italy and Argentina and takes place in Iran.

All points will be added after the games and out of the 12 teams, the 5 best teams advance to the next round.

At this point it is not about Volleyball anymore, it is about Bottom Line, getting more sponsors, tv coverage etc...... FIVB is making a beautiful game ridiculously complicated by adding more teams and groups.

If they really want to add so many teams, they should just make it like a league table format (e.g., like football) with relegation zones and promotion zones. Each team plays every other team twice (home and away) and at the end the top team is chosen as champion. It becomes far too complicated for the average fan to follow and thus get into the league and games.

personally i like the new format. good draw for iran that gets to host last week. lets hope we are still in it for the last week!
