Didier Drogba just signed with Montreal Impact of MLS and now MLS has several former world class players (Pirlo, David Villa, Lampard, Drogba, Gerrard, Keane) and some current great players (Dos Santos, Giovinco). So what are your thoughts on this league? Do you think this is the right approach to improve the standard of football? In my opinion now, MLS is only better than PGPL because of the big names they have, if you compare the quality of domestic players, I believe our league far outranks MLS. If I was MLS, instead of spending all this money on old names who are in the twilight of their careers, I would spend money to bring world class youth coaches, build new facilities to improve the quality of football. With the sanctions lifting this is what I hope will happen with PGPL rather than going down the road of MLS or QSL or UAE Persian Gulf League. I would be interested what other members have to say.

I agree for the most part. In terms of infrastructure the mls is far superior to the ipl. They garner big name players but the quality of play is stagnant. I think Iran is implementing youth far more and we will be reaping the benefits of that. Actually I think an all ipl team can one day compete for Iran in a World Cup better then a U.S. team with their domestic players.
The ipl is faster more technical and is pretty physical. The mls of course has the better wrap because of their superstar 35+ year olds.

I've been watching since Toronto got a team in 2006 and quality of most of the domestic players hasnt improved a bit. Some people think the U.S relative success in the World Cup was because of mls players but it was mostly because of the German players klinsmen brought in. He dropped a few of those German players and took a mainly mls squad to this gold cup where they came 4th. If they continue this trend of bring late 30's near retirement players they will continue to be the Qatar of North America. But it does have some decently entertaining games to watch since their only goal is try to keep the fans entertained rather than actually improving.

Btw, Gio dos Santos couldn't make it in Europe. He got tossed around like a salad. He doesn't count as a star at all..."I'm here to clean the carpets. Most of the world is carpeted. And, one day, we will do the cleaning."

MLS kinda sucks lool. The league has good infrastructure for the most part, but I don't see the passion and heart of the game while watching MLS matches.--------------------------Beiranvand-------------------

I have to disagree with you guys on MLS. IMO MLS is very better than IPL on all levels. I watch a lot of games and they are by far more exciting then IPL. You can easily see the tactics etc. If any thing our league needs to study and see what MLS has done to get this far in a such a short time and implement it in IPL. The fact that you have big name players coming over is simple, they could easily get the money to go to UAE or Qatar but playing for a respectable league, and playing in a league that is in North America is more enticing than in a desert.IRI = FAILED

IPL is only worse in infrastructure, MLS is super slow pace, the new players are good, but MLS needs better talents from young ages.IRI = FAILED

I follow MLS as I have many friends who are season ticket holders, US has the potential and they have seen the potential of this market and they will use it to grow. Just watch while we are still stuck which kor kori, MLS is growing and has already surpassed IPL and it will continue to grow more.IRI = FAILED

you have to agree with me to have these players in their prime in MLS or MLS level league is not practical, but having these players in the league just puts the league in a different level. is it retirement league? sure you could say that, is it for the money? possibility for the money you could say that. You can't go around and say IPL is better then MLS when you have at best washed out Brazilian division 2 or 3 players and maybe 1 or 2 Easter European players who played in their national team can call your league a better league with the inflated prices they get paid to play!! And call MLS not exciting, its laughable and outrages.IRI = FAILED

The environment is designed to be a fun, relaxing and family oriented. That is the business model of MLS. If you go to any sports stadium/arena in US you will see the same pattern. If you start to get a bit rowdy they will kick you out!!

MLS is growing BUT, BUT its not helping the NT, the goal of the domestic league SHOULD BE to enhance the national team, but the way they are progressing in America, they will never produce any world class players. Meanwhile in PGPL, each year we produce new and new domestic players and yet WE THINK ITS NOT ENOUGH, we still expect more because you cannot compare Iran to America, as I said MLS will never produce a homegrown world class player, while the PGPL can produce a diamond in the rough every couple of years (Karimi, Daei and Mahdavikia).
it is not about your view or my view, your view is very skewed and your knowledge of US football system is piss poor. same with your IPL knowledge
If you were familiar with US system, which you are not, that is why you are just say stuff, you would know that the "farm league" system or youth system is much much better than what is in iran,
just the level of filters players have to go through to get to just MLS: just so you know because you do not know, (this is the exact system that is used by NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL)--- the list of top athletes goes on and on with this system in place.
Elementary league/summer leagues ---> Junior High school team -----> High school team -----> NCAA -------> if they are lucky they get into Draft -----> if they are luckier they get drafted
btw having one hit wonders in IPL every season that pop up every now and than at the age of 22 or 23 is not about how go the league is or how the scouting is, it is JUST a ONE HIT WONDER, take a look at the list of one hit wonders in IPL and you will see What we thought and how they turn out!
Almost All if not All US players have gone thru this system have gone into the MLS or after College have bounced to Europe!!
you are trying to compare this system that have produce top athlete in the world from different sports to iranian league system?!?!?
so US NT does not have top players, LOOL, having players in Astin Villa, Hearth, Bolton, AZ, and many more is not good enough?
Yes you are right IPL is better, cause we have azmun Estalollazhi in Rostov and that is all!! yes we have so much talent that is "POOOOOCH"IRI = FAILED
